Which concertpromoter or production-house did organise Koffi's Olympia and Zenith of 1998 ? I am confused, it's credited to many concertpromoters/labels or was it a co-production of 2 or 3 different concertpromoters ?




I think that two artists, I am not sure which one, mentioned Kokar Masakuba, when  explaining why Dolce Somono wasn't there at Olympia and if I remember well them saying that he was the one who bought tickets and applied visa's for them. Kokar Masakuba himself also said that he was the the concertpromoter of Koffi's Olympia in his last interview with Teddy Mola, also talking about the promo-poster of Olympia with Koffi holding a world-cup trophee. I also remember once I think being mentioned about Olympia on Congo2000, when there was an article written about Congolese concertpromoters.


When Papa Wemba was about to do his first Zenith in 1999. One representative of production house Coeur Tempo, that often used to organise concerts for artist from the French West Indies and African artists, came to talk about Wemba's show on the radio and the journalist credited the shows of Koffi Olomide at Zenith de Paris and Olympia to them.

But on the same time, you had Junior Mac Kenro once saying the comments of one of those extracts from the Zenith-show on youtube, that he was the person that organised it and saying that he made a double show of first letting Tabou Combo perform in the evening and Koffi Olomidé in the night. In the credits towards the end of the Olympia-VHS you can see being written Koffi Olomide et le Quartier Latin remercient Béatrice Fay "Coeur Tempo" et Richard Soudana. However, in a short documentary made my French channel M6 about African artists in Paris, you see the head of Sonodisc saying that because of Koffi's Olympia being sold out, him deciding that they would bring Koffi to Zenith and them already printing papers with the concert-date of Zenith on sharing it. When you watch the official Olympia-cassette of Koffi, you can in the intro a poster put entrance of Olympia, where there is written Sonodisc presente Koffi Olomidé & Quartier Latin, which is also used in the documentary



But on the same time, back in the days people would credit Constant Lomata of LOM Production for Koffi's show at Olympia and Zenith, saying that he  opened the door for other concertpromoters to organize concerts for Congolese artists at the 3 mythic halls Olympia, Zenith and Bercy. When polemic started about Congolese artists not gaining alot of money, despite selling those halls out. They would say that it was because concertpromoters renting the hall under the name of main artist, them mentioning that the tactic came from Constant Lomata, saying that he was the person that brought Koffi to Olympia and Zenith. Giving the example of Koffi performing at Zenith after Tabou Combo and also that it was  the real reason why Olympia would never put the name of Koffi Olomidé, JB Mpiana and Papa Wemba with red light letters on the wall and when the show of the main-artist would be finished, them putting quickly a poster above it with the name of the Congolese artist.
