I feel like Sam Tsintu wanted to enter the French pop-music scene with this album. Donnes-moi ton numéro was on different DVD-compilations of African music. But Sam was a bit late with it. He would have capitalized on it, if he did it in the period after Sanction, when they were enjoying success with Bouro, Modogo, Somono and Mboshi. They could have the succes Magic System had in France every summer with the different singles (On n'sait Jamais, Bouger Bouger, Un Gaou à Oran, C'est Chaud Ca Brule, Zouglou Dance, Cherie Coco, Ambiance a l'Africaine and Meme Pas Fatigué) they were releasing with French pop-artists at that time.
This period reminds me more about how different articles written about Academia being disbanded for the 1000st time and this time being true. Modogo and Mboshi returning to Quartier Latin and Sam Tshintu being left on his own. Both guys really hated Sam Tshintu and vice-versa in that period. I don't know if it was Mboshi or Modogo, but one of them really became mad when a journalist stated Sam Tshintu's name when asking about why left Academia to return to Quartier Latin. The same for Sam Tshintu when being asked about them during the Sacrifice recordings in 2009.
Beniko once said that they left because of discovering at SACEM that Sam Tshintu credited all songs to himself. I want Mboshi and Modogo one day talk about the period from Viagra till Sexy Chocolat, but I don't see anyone of them doing it. I was really surprised to see Mboshi back in Quartier Latin, as I didn't believe it would happen one day, because of the many attacks he did against Koffi on tv
