Blaise Esabe’s father used to be a drummer in the mythic group Thu Zahina, which inspired younger groups like Zaiko Langa Langa and Stukas. Thu Zahina had band members such as Roxy Tshimpaka, Gege Mangaya, Thierry Mantuika, Denis Bonyeme, and others. The group introduced the system of recording songs that were around 10 minutes long, and they also introduced female dancers (something that is often wrongly credited to Tabu Ley Rochereau)

Blaise Esabe's name was François Esabe and his stage name as drummer was “Zigo Zago".
