Last weekend, I was watching with friends different shows of JB Mpiana from the 2001-02 period and we were discussing if JB Mpiana’s concert at Elysée Montmartre after Bercy was orginally a Plan B in the case Bercy would get cancelled



A few months before JB Mpiana’s show at Bercy, there were rumors that the concert would get cancelled because of the deposit not being paid, but nothing happened and the show was maintained. After that the story of 9/11 came and rumors about musicians not getting visas. Despite all those problems, JB Mpiana still managed to perform at Bercy



The thing that brought me to the question about Elysee Montmartre being a plan B, was that at the time, there were no Congolese artists that performing following week after doing a Zénith de Paris or Bercy. They would usually wait one or two months before doing a second show in Europe, mostly starting with Brussels or Geneva.While JB Mpiana did immediately another show after and it took place in Paris, not another European city.

Talking about the Elysee Montmartre-show, it was among the last shows of Titina Al Capone within Wenge BCBG. They performed the following week at LA Madeleine in Brussels and went to Canada without him. According Titina, they travelled to Canada without informing him. While people of BCBG's camp claim that Titina decided to stay in Europe. Wenge BCBG on their side,  were supposed to perform in Switzerland after the Canadian tour, but something went wrong during the stopover, which resulted in them being arrested and deported to Kinshasa
