Now, 20 years later (13-10-2006 / 13-10-2026), I’m still of the opinion that Danger de Mort deserved a better reception. People were too harsh against  it.I’m still grateful that Koffi finished the  music videos and even filmed some footage in Kinshasa, while many of the singers had already left. While during  Droit de Veto,  he only shot Rond Point, Droit de Veto and Sens Inverse. Would y’all have believed in 2005 or 2006  if someone told you that Danger de Mort would be Quartier Latin’s last album?

Until this day, I wonder why Philipe Guez didn't participate to the album, while he participated to albums like Faux Mutu Moko Boye, Temoignage and Droit Chemin, who were all recorded in that period. Although his absence, Mbetenge and JC Tshituka did in my opinion a good job

It is crazy that Mbetenge had to wait until B.E.K. to get recogition from the public, while his work on Danger de Mort was titanious. Koffi even credited Mbetenge next to him and JC Tshituka among the arrangers of the album. I recently saw an interview with Mbetenge and Popol Mopasula, where Mbetenge said that Koffi was on the plane and asked Fally about him, only to find out that he had left Mbetenge behind in Kinshasa. He was surprised by  because he needed Mbetenge to finish the work they did in Kinshasa in Paris. Rumors say that there was a rhythm-guitarist (I won't cite his name) went to a witchdoctor to be on the Europe-list, which apparently why Mbetenge got left behind

I’ll be real it took me 18 years to like the album, I hated it in the beginning. I was expecting a double disc and more sebene so I was disappointed. I was also looking forward to hear Mirage and Asso in the album because they were credited but only to discover their vocals were erased. I was expecting it to be like Force De Frappe or ADT level but I felt let down. It’s only now that I can say the album is good Mbetenge did a really good job the sound was excellent.

Why wasn’t the album a double disc? I feel like they could’ve added more songs and even another Generique which was normal since Effrakata.

Not going to lie, this album pissed me off for a while. My initial thought was “you had assembled the equivalent of the Avengers and this is what you release?? In addition you cut the vocals of your popular recruits?”

Another way to put it is listen to ADE, then play DDM right after and see the level of drop-off in production.

As time passed and releases got limited I started to better like the album. The compositions were solid and the limited sebene enjoyable . For the difficult recording problems, producer challenges , and ngulu affair problems - it was the best of what could have been done for the circumstances. Agree Mbetenge and JC Tshituka saved their asses with the arrangements.

Droit Chemin especially and Sous Sol made this album sit in waiting till the buzz died a bit on those releases. Wazekwa was also fairly hot at that time following  Faux Mutu Moko Boye and the single Mosapi Liboso. JB also was cooking Kipe Ya Yo then and doing previews and gaining momentum. With Koffi losing most of the QL team and this album flopping, he was in shambles at the end of 2006.

From my point of view. Koffi made some strange decision for Danger de Mort. I do not understand why he accepted Modogo, Bouro Mpela and Mbochi back. Why did Brigade just animated one small part of the generique? Why did he keep bebe gout for his next album? Why didn‘t he leave asso‘s vocal in?

I do not who said that during the Ado Juhe interview but Koffi wanted to record a song only with Fally and Ferre but wanted to keep it for his own album but he should have included it already in Danger de Mort.

If i remenber correctly did Mirage already leave during the recording process so that Bouro Mpela took over his vocal…

Fally took a lot of Momentum from the Album with Droit Chemin. Moustiquaire just sounds like Jugement Dernier like an End of an Era Track.

Bourman claims that he had a song (BB Gout) on Danger de Mort that was supposed to be sung lead by Ferre. However, after Ferre started hyping the song up, Koffi wanted to make it one of the main songs of his upcoming solo album "L'Album sans nom" (aka Bord Ezanga Kombo). Which why he hadn't a song on Danger de Mort. However, it would sadly turn into badluck against Bourman. Mirage, who had also worked on the song, used the second part of it for “Mon Bébé” without Bourman's authorization. Koffi was really furious against Bourman when hearing Mirage's song, while Mirage just stole it. As Koffi saw it as an act of sabotage, he decided to leave Bourman behind when the band went to perform at Zenith de Paris in 2007.

Koffi had to modify BB Gout, by changing the song part. He also removed a verse to use it in the song Plat Favori, which he sang towards the end. "Lelo dimi makambu maman abandaki koloba"

Fally took a lot of Momentum from the Album with Droit Chemin. Moustiquaire just sounds like Jugement Dernier like an End of an Era Track.

He accepted Bouro Mpela back because he knew that either Fally or Ferre would soon leave, so he wanted to anticipate their departure. However, the decision would  backfire on him. During Bouro's first rehearsal after returning, Koffi hyped him up, calling  him  “Le Transfert le Plus Cher” and other stuff . Ferre saw it as an attack against him. He also believed that Koffi would soon do a “12” on him. He decided to stop showing up for rehearsals and concerts.

Modogo, Mboshi and Champion's return gave Quartier Latin fans in Europe some nostalgia about the Droit de Veto-era. Modogo even re-did the solo of Olympia during the concert at Palais des Congres

About Mboshi, Champion and Modogo rejoining Quartier Latin, it wasn't that Koffi accepted them back. It was Koffi himself who contacted them and invited them to rejoin the band. He also contacted Sam Tshintu, but Sam was the only one who turned down the offer.

Even before officially rejoining Quartier Latin, Mboshi and Modogo had already participated in concerts that Koffi did around Europe (Brussels, Savigny, Lyon and Germany) with Ferre and former Quartier Latin members such as Somono, Pathy Bass, Chamberton and Deo Brando. Modogo even collaborated with Ramazani on the EP Boma Nga n'Elengi, adding vocals to “Sissi Silivi.”

Shortly before the European tour, Modogo returned to Kinshasa. I believe this was also why Assow was left behind. Both men have similar roles. Modogo was a veteran of Quartier Latin who already had the French papers, while Assow was still a rookie and it was not sure if he would return once he would be in Europe. As result, Koffi sadly removed Assow's vocals and let Modogo do it in Europe. Marents would have boosted Assow, if they didn't remove his vocals.

About Brigade, Koffi believed that Fally would soon create another Academia and that Brigade would join him, because how close the two were. This made Koffi decide to leave Brigade behind. Mboshi having to do his role during concerts.  With Mboshi's return, Koffi decided to remove some of Brigade's parts from the générique and re-do some sebenes with Mboshi doing the cri's of Brigade. While Quartier Latin being busy touring, Brigade would soon Maison Mère on the same time as Patience. In an interview, Brigade  once said that he was surprised to hear his voice on Danger de Mort. According to him, the recordings they had made in Kinshasa were only voix témoins and he had believed that everything had been erased during the recording sessions in Europe.

Champion rejoined the band because Titina needed a backup drummer and Koffi didn't believe that Tshe-Tshe le Balle would to Kinshasa, as he hadn't been in Europe for four years.Koffi also called Champion for the Zenith concerts of2007 and 2009, even though Titina had already left and Tshe-Tshe being the only drummer  in Kinshasa.

Tshe-Tshe himself once claimed in Angola that Titina wasn't supposed to join the 2005–2006 European tour because Koffi suspected him of sleeping with Bibicia. According to Tshe-Tshe, Titina was lucky to have French papers, which allowed him to travel to Europe. I don't believe this claim, as Tshe-Tshe often lies during interviews. However, I did find it strange that among all the musicians who had songs on Danger de Mort and previewed them on the Boma Nga n'Elengi DVD, Titina was the only one whose image wasn't shown. There was only a shot of him speaking during the “Milkshake” music video.

I remember during the skyrocks era, that there were rumros about Shella Mputu getting left behind in Kinshasa and people being surprised to see him in Europe. I believe that if Sam Tshintu accepted Koffi's offer, that Shella would end up getting left behind. It was a mistake from Shella to return last minute to Africa, when thinking how much he struggled in Kinshasa after leaving Quartier Latin.

Shella had backluck that a politician who started dating his 'ex wife/sugarwoman, plotted against him by letting 'commission de censure' banning his song from the radio and television, which made his song having zero promo in Kinshasa. The ban ending up by getting lifted, but it was already to late for him.
