a again from this forum  guys comment on whether a soloist is good or not. Some  are branded as not living to their potential others false. also comments like such and such leader should pick such and such soloists.how do you rate soloists ie what are the parameters? does the brand of guitar being used a factor. what about tuning and balance with other guitars and synthe.? some soloists are very crisp and clear while others are rough...reason ? then does the type of songs being played make or break a soloists ie can some songs be considered soloists friendly.

Sly and kaisari may give you a technical analysis but my observation is that while keeping most parameters constant, like good studio recording, good guitar etc, a soloist is one that understands the flow and pace of the singers and or other instrumentalists. he should be in sync with them and to lead or influence the direction in which a song or sebene should go. take for example makaba, this talented man led the sebene up to the end with fellows like titina following very well. his guitar sound should also be just audible not noisy. again, makaba and roga roga are champions at this. sound tuning is critical to either spoiling a song or not.
