TYPES OF ATALAKU CRIS
My opinion.....
Different atalakus have different voices but also different calls . I have trued to analyze and but them down. The titles are my own creation.
1. sing song
These ones the atalaku sings like a song without repeating the cri. The cri are long and melodious. Actually if one is not an expert one will be forgiven to think they are singing. examples CNN and Tuti. Here one atalaku can sustain a concert.
2.singular response
These ones require two atalakus one to respond to the other ones call usually with just one word repeated again and again. Without the response calls they are diluted.eg Apocalypse
3.choral response
These ones require several band members to help in the response. The response is usually composed several words.eg Genta
4.interplay
These one are where two atalakus seamlessly join in a sing song type of call. it is quite melodious but very complicated and is rarely used.eg Eclipse & Bercy in Muta Liboma, short bits in Tindika Lokito by Bill and Celeo and also Cultur atalakus in the last Zenith concert
5.hardcore
These ones involve short catchy phrases usually without known meanings ( only known to the atalaku) accompanied by stage antics. Generally it has a feel good effect but the calls do not last vwry long in peoples mind. please fill in your examples.
6.ancien
These involve repeating words or phrases over and over again. This style csn be labelled old school .eg Ekokota and Zaiko atalakus...Here good guitarists are of immense help.

Looking at it on the rap/hip hop angle I would break it down in 3...The HypeMan, The lyricist and The MC, someone that can use the first two attributes and carry on a show without loosing any of the fan..

Re: TYPES OF ATALAKU CRIS
Bill also belongs to the first group as a singing ataluku like CNN even though he also shouts out some catchy phrases. His is more like satirical singing.
