I've always been amazed at the turnover rate in Congolese music. Sometimes you could almost compare it to professional sport where players are always looking a new home where their skill set fits the new team than the old team.

For a period of maybe ten years Quartier Latin had a solid team of musicians (Felly Tyson, Binda Bass, Kabouya and Ramazani), WMMM also for a long time had a winning formula in Flamme, Japonais, Bill Clinton, Cleo.

If you were a leader and you know this formula works great and produces great results, is there anything within your capacity to make sure you keep this winning team/formula?

A lot of the musicians don't/can't find a way forward (except Felly Tyson, Bill Kalonji and other few ones) once they leave. Is it Greed on the part of the musicians? Greed on the part of the Big name Band leaders? Or just the a different vision. In other words, do you think the musicians will stay with a team if they are well treated (money, own songs, etc)?

But then when you look at a team like Wenge BCBG, it's so easy to see why new blood is needed. Old crew tends to be stale unless you are very creative.

yes treatment has a lot to do with how long musicians stay in a group,musicians  mainly leave for two reasons desire to get more money and the fact they cant release albums in their group
if you talk to the golden maison mere generation for example most would not have minded at all staying at least  a couple of years more but they did not think they got the treatment they deserved so they had to create it for themselves outside the group
in the case of latino the "collapse" was mainly caused by the fact many in not half of the group were in a position of being able to get long term europe papers so the temptation to remain in europe was too big
as for the case of bcbg its two problems in one lol musicians stay unless there is a fallout or proposal of an ambitious producer because of the treatment and at the same time no group exposes better than bcbg how difficult it is to create and keep a very very attractive team in this era,there is way too much demand for jobs so way too much talent wasted even when you take of  the undesirables,still too much talent sidelined
 whereas the previous teams of latino and maison mere mentioned above had a limited number so much easier to build a strong chemistry and exploit each guy's talent well
coincidence or not the level of congolese music dropped from the moment groups started having 40 50 members

I think you are right with this. Too many musicians in groups where they dont have a chance to shine or contribute to projects. On one hand it good to see so many talented young and hungry musicians, but it also a waste to have so much talent with no where to go. And most of the time when they go solo, they falter, unless they are very lucky with a hit ( eg. Ya Mado/Mascara).
