Congolese Music / Re: MAN, KEVIN MBOUANDE IS SO UNDERRATED
« on: October 18, 2021, 17:10 »
Roga Roga just profiting from Extra Musica's name. Who became quickly known in Congo and Zaire because of Zacharie Bababaswe and later whole Africa due to their manager Ferreol Gassakycs who had alot of connections. Beside it Roga also profits from being close the presidential family because of being from the same tribe. Kevin Mbouandé doesn't have all that legacy. He was and is with Patrouilles des Stars, but they weren't known in  Africa like  Extra Musica was, just a few countries Gabon, Cameroun, Guinee & Senegal but on a low level. Their manager Denide was more stealing their money then promoting them properly. Kevin Mbouande also have that badluck of being a Muteke which makes him getting less support.

What is Muteke?

Regardless of the winner, both albums are classic albums where the respective artists and their bands (at least the lineups of the time) had really hit their stride. Effrakata is basically Koffi's second peak as far as rumbas are concerned, and the Generation Bercy of QL had truly matured as a unit here and established themselves. Kibuisa Mpimpa has sebenes that are aggressive, but not too aggressive yet not that mellow, it has bits and pieces of other genres like hip hop, salsa, reggae and even jazz and it shows how the Maison Mere Dream Team Dream Band instantly bounced back after losing Adolphe and Lacoste. That said, when needed, Effrakata still had the sebenes to get you grooving and Kibuisa has its fair share of memorable rumbas.

We should also give credits to the arrangers who gave each album their own special touch. Philippe Guez worked on both albums and listening to his work (Blandine, Robot and Medecin de Nuit stand out), you could tell that he added his own spin on rumba and helped both men fulfil the vision they had for their songs without diluting it. Al Nzimbi arranged Kibuisa Mpimpa, and he used his keyboards as background to fill out the songs a bit more while still keeping the guitars audible. He knew which sound to use at the right moment, and so did Philippe. All in all, two albums that Congolese music lovers will still praise for years to come.

Beautiful analysis. I like it.

Congolese Music / Re: Loi or Effrakata
« on: June 23, 2021, 19:37 »
Loi is crap, I never rated it. The album was poorly executed it had no continuity unlike his previous solo efforts, the sebene on most songs sound monotonous even the lyrically content on rumbas are somewhat shallow and vague. Loi will never compete with Effrakata as it hasn’t aged well with time.
Are you serious??? First you say Sanction is a crap now Loi is crap and hasn’t aged well?? Lord what are you gonna say next

Lol, knowing him, he'll probably say that Solola Bien and Kibuisa Mpimpa are overrated. And the hottest take'll be rating Mayi ya Sika and Techno Malewa over both albums.

Chai! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

However we may want to look at it, it is a huge loss. I really feel for the owner of the studio.

i think the 2008 team was the worst, each of the singers had at least 2 guys of nkisi in every crowd of rehearsal,to extent that even  nsone was saying "podium ekomi kilo"

What does "podium ekomi kilo" mean?

Werra was finding the podium"heavy" because there was too much spiritual things happening, between those who were attacking  eachother over competition, those over women, those to seduce werra to become automatic in all trips...

Wow!Thanks bro.
