he collapses around the 26 min mark R.I.P Papa Wemba you will be greatly missed, I thought he was immortal   

i think it is safe to say his passing has shaken everyone! If someone of his calibre can go out just like that, who are we ?

i dont know if its just me , but really cant watch the video .. its so painful that i can even go trough it.. 

 me neither,thank God i fell asleep yesterday when watching FEMUA live on RTI and could not even see papa's part(even though i say to myself it would have been so great to see him on stage for the last time if i knew)
if you take out papa lutumba papa bombenga then his friends who co founded zaiko,the rest of congolese music is basically his children been it directly through viva and co like reddy and co, or songwriters koffi wazekwa and le karmapa who all got desire of having solo careers thanks to him and with his blessing, the wenge's who looked up to him, then the youngers guy who looked up to the wenge's who looked up to him and so on and so on

Yes I refuse to watch it. I know other channels will probably have the video, but it's best if the channel owner takes this video down asap. I mean if you search "Papa Wemba" on YouTube, this will likely become the first video rather than his almost innumerable musical jems.


The problem with the internet is established code of ethics don't mean anything. It's hard enough as someone who has been a fan since early youth, just imagine a family member of his coming across this...

Yes,his death shook almost everyone. I don't think anyone saw it coming except him who already had the premonition of his death. Words are powerful,he said how he wished to die and he died that same way. He has left a vacuum nobody can fill however hard they try. He was made that way- artistes have been passing onto glory from time immemorial but Papa Wemba's death has dealt us all a big blow. Ah,motema pasi!

He could've been alive if the right medical procedures were taken.

This is not to start the blame game but some things are just basic. Here was a man who had just recovered from an illness, there ought to be some medical arrangements made for him in case things go wrong. These are some of the things all these concert organizers are supposed to put in place.  And considering the fact that it was Magic System that organised this festival, I'm disappointed in them.If after living in the western world for years,they still don't know better...I'm highly disappointed.
We all heard about his illness when he was down.  That ought to have made them get at least one GP, if they cannot afford a specialist, to be on standby. When are we ever going to get it right despite our exposure(s) and all?

I too I have never wanted to to watch this long video. I hate to see such a person go that way.

Gentlemen.Papa Wemba collapsed a few months ago in Europe infact we got rumours that he had died however he was resuscitated and asked to rest. He went back to music and was in studio before recently returning to Kin and then going to Abidjan. According to reports i saw, doctors say he died before hitting the ground as the first thing they checked when he dropped was his pulse etc and they knew resuscitation would have been in vain. The video does not show clearly what was going on and who was doing what but we can see he was surrounded and some people were doing something to him shortly before the paramedics got to him,the paramedics are clearly seen on stage with their white high visibility vests with a red cross at the back. I strongly believe it was a natural death as a result of an on going heart problem and they just couldn't save him because it was instant death,let's stop the blame game and mourn him with dignity.
