DAMN. Ferre brought his A++ game for the rhumbas. I'd say next level compared to Boite Noire. It'll take a good week or two properly anaylze the songs, but just about all rhumbas are at least excellent.

I don't care much for the generiques though and found myself skipping them. Arrangement is lacklustre in comparison to the rhumbas and Charly could really use a new guitar.

I am loving all the rhumbas. All of them are full hundred and the quality is out of this world. As for the generiques I honestly don't care as I am more of a 95% rhumba and 5% sebene type of fan. I tend to think that Ferre is trying to package himself more as a rhumba artist because it is not just QQJD that is mostly rhumba with two or three sebenes. QDT had only the QEDT generique and Joao Ndombele as generique/sebene while Boite Noire had Boite Noire and one or two other generique/sebenes. The rest were rhumbas. Even Sens Interdit did not have more than 4 sebene max. So i think that instead of complaining about Ferre not giving enough Sebenes we should enjoy his rhumba repertoire and then have Fally, Werra and the others supply the sebene.

I was streaming from Tidal tonight. I listened to Vol 1 that one was very powerful. I repeated kimpela kiesse with Tutu like 3 times in a row. Mea culpa and kinshasa were lovely. Wow I'm still in shock. I agree light years from boite noire.

It's a good album but some songs sound like it was kept over from Boite Noire. I was expecting some Sens Interdit/QEDT in this album and there was some of that but mostly it sounded like Boite Noire. Ferre has all these rhumbas but most likely will play a lot of sebene at concerts abroad.

Ferre missed a big opportunity with Tutu, he had on the garbage song Kipele whatever and didnt even shout him out. They reused that Ya Jean animation in both sebene generiques.  I was really impressed with Rice Matadiens and Hugor' vocals. Guy Digital song was ok, he should've used a different one it sounds more of a Ferre song.

It sucks La Mineur only had one short vocal when he said he had three and he didn't even sing in Rossignol it was Guy.

The songs I kept are QQJD, Kinshasa, Fautif, Tailleur and Titanic (Ferre sang really good on that song)

And for Vol.2 I kept Tshiluba (that's a really fun song) Match, Rossignol (sucks La Mineur wasn't in it but Guy was good) Apprivoise and Monotonie, Moribond.

Vol.3 Wumela,International, Mobobe (good job Echappe).

In was expecting more, I'll see What's Fally, Light Music, Ibrator and Adada have in store.

I like how he used the famous lyrics from Zao's big 80's hit Ancien combattant

Wenge Tonya Tonya's animateur Washington was the previous to use the lyrics as animations

so far i have only listened to disc one but the production is miles above his last definitely. i love when an artist can take constructive criticism and then deliver something great afterwards. i'm sure he heard all of the talk about how he's become too boring. even tho its mostly rumba so far it doesn't feel monotonous at all the production is very dynamic. i will listen to disc two later tonight or tomorow morning. so far so great tho

Finally got the album and sampled most of the songs and i must say this is way above Boite Noire. The generiques are completely different to what we are used to and like Archos said, Japonais played on all the generiques and although not playing that high tone we are used to in Wenge, he surely has corrected Charly and Hadji on how to record solo guitar.

I must stress that Rice Matadien and Guy Gola have shining like bright stars in the sky on this album, they are now fully polished singers. Echappe too nailed his song. I will add my full review after some more listening but definitely am not skipping any song so far, on Boite Noire I was not really bothered with a couple of songs including the generiques but on this one, nope, am sure even Mutu Nguba must be dancing at Mont Fleury!

Big up to my good friend and Chef Du Orchestre Maty De Gaule who also had excellent vocals on the songs.
