few days ago i watched an interview of sam tshintu and he said after they had recorded major part of loi they went back on african tour then koffi went back to europe with pathy bass,tyson, the two atalakus,champion,do akongo,and apparently most of the rest did not even know what the generique would sound like and he remembered that he was at home when he heard it on radio the first time and he had goosebumps,he knew quartier latin being a big group would produce quality stuff but did not imagine it would be that good

And now it's the most famous générique of all time. Wow, it's the nearing the 20th anniversary. The acoustics is still impeccable

i never once danced to wenge ndombolo....growing up in the late 90s, Loi ndombolo was the only ndombolo people outside congo preferred

 lol, true ndombolo is shaking you ass. The chant was catchy, but if you were doing it literally and by yourself, it's a bit suspect

Yea, even when I ready biographies and history around the web, people like to give Clan Wenge credit for cries and dances they  actually did not create. Kitisela ya mata (used years before Pentagone), Ndombolo, Moto, etc... they're all dances they helped popularized in Kinshasa -> Africa

 loi is the perfect example  it was much much more promoted and popular in africa than the ndombolo of feux de l'amour
but maybe in DRC people associate it more to wenge because wenge was playing it a lot prior to album release while koffi kind of popped up with it  and bang

That reminds of the question that has been bothering me for some time now. Who started the Ndombolo animation? Coz I was surprised to hear it from Koffi's Loi... Coz think I first heard it from Jb's Feux de L'Amour

Koffi made many cut and paste generics

I remember a show in Nairobi by Koffi in the 90's where he introduced the Dance style ( not the cries) and he explained that the dance was developed by street kids in Kinshasa known as shegues and he added that he was the King of shegues....

At that time his favourite dancer was Rosette, and he  paraded her dancing Ndombolo to the audience for quite some time.

Later we saw Wenge Musica BCBG singing the Ndombolo Generique.

Not sure who was first but the dance was here before the BCBG Ndombolo Craze. Of course when Loi came in, everybody went nuts but thats another story!!

 it came in quartier latin through bouro who is one of those who participated in conception of the dance, prior to quartier latin bouro was living with j b when  the animation came then was about to be associated with the dance proof is koffi did ndombolo on wakeup because wenge refused to allow caludji to fly to europe just for studio when they needed him in concerts

I believe  it was koffi who actually did it first himself in wake up,  then mbochi and bouro came with the moves only in ultimatum   and mbochi confirmed it in Loi. But the wenge part got  more credit because feux de l'amour named the generique and was more danceable. You can feel the difference  between  both group way of exhibiting the dance moves. QL was more  bouro robotic  way and wenge was way smooth and catchy.  Y'all should remember that QL never played a ndombolo seben style until  they decided to change it and made  it their own in Loi. Wenge started the ndombolo semben style in pentagone , from the dancing to the way of playing the music with the coming  of caludji  . You can fell the difference  between  new Image and pentagone, the battery  style is not the same  ... anyway . To me i will the credit goes to wenge for being the real creator of the ndombolo and koffi for taking the crie to anothe level .

makaba who was one of the arrangers of album requested tutu to fly back to europe(himself did not get tutu on pile ou face for similar reasons) as he had returned with werra and co while makaba used jb ekokota and titina
i believe even the producer coco rubenga or somebody like that confirmed it in a long interview that it was only after failing to get tutu that koffi did it
but like i said in the past a lot  that's an animation mboshi knew,so did alino biongo of zaiko mboshi even did alino a shoutout on generique all the promise musica guy knew it i am sure even  marchouse or his teacher coreen can talk about it(same for bilolo and some other animation that tutu promoted more in 4X4)
exactly wenge edged closer to ndombolo rhythm first lol thinking about it because of feux de l'amour generique people never belittle japonais' presence in wenge musica while ferre and seguin have to constantly remind people they were in wenge aswell for the last 20 months or so
