Honestly, any of the songs expect for the two folklore songs could be chosen.

This album was missing bouro in my opinion when he left things were slowly starting to go downhill then the recruitment of more musicians and them going back to kin nailed it it was okay to have Suzuki and Beniko since they were QL already

How much would've Bouro added to this album though? Chorus sure, but he's not renown as a songwriter.

It's kind of like Pentagone, where the band was clearly disintegrting, but they were able to work to complete a master album.  This is one of the few albums I consider flawless

I didn't like Viagra in the beginning, but after listening to it many times I started to like, but not like i liked Sanction. I think that it was better to let the recruited musicians stay in Kinshasa and record Viagra like Sanction with 3 singer + Suzuki who just joined them. In several interviews Sam Tshintu blames his ex'collegues for the idea to go back to Kinshasa to prove "la carre magique" (Wenge/Viva/QL) and recruiting musicians. But I saw interviews of Somono, Bouro Mpela & Lebou Kabuya they actually said that it was Sam's idea to go to Kinshasa and recruit musicians and girldancers, planning already to be the sole leader in the future and force them slowly one by one out. So all those interviews are confusing me and I don't who is telling the true. But i found it still a stupid idea from Bouro Mpela to leave Academia at that moment.



I guess that if Academia got later problems with the ngulu-affaire, then it's Somono one of the guys who's responsible for it. Because I remember that he did interview in a polemic-video, after his departure where he snitched them of bringing ngulu's instead of musicians to Europe.

Zabalumbu is along with Reflexion, Love Story, Colation, Certitude and Kimpuaka my favorite song of Viagra. But I prefer the remix version of Zabalumbu, called Z2 from 4 Coins Kandala. Mustapha's vocal in Zabalumbu is so awesome, but his move from Quartier Latin to Academia was so foolish.

from what i know sam was also influenced by people around like look at your friend jb now filling zenith,martyrs and co on his own, mannn you have talent you can be like him so as things went on he started recruiting  spotting potential replacement to those who were around and would remain only with his 'younger brother'" modogo who was not bothered one bit by leadership and the plan that if mboshi got big headed  deplick who was brought in by tonton lay would have taken over
but then boom ngulu affair,impossible to travel,eric mente leaves,musikasika,modogo returns to quartier latin,tonton lay goes to quartier latin....

Wow I just watched the Somono interview. I didn't know he left Willy Bula and Babia at airport. I think Suzuki should have done the same thing as Somono when Koffi left them behind in Kinshasa after all he had done for Quartier Latin he deserved to play at Olympia & Zenith. Their life conditions were terrible for such talented musicians who helped Koffi to produce quality albums. He really treated them like dirt no wonder why the Academia guys were so angry at him.

But think of it this way; the career highlight for almost all of them was being in Koffi's Quartier Latin. When they do interviews or are seen in public that is their reference. 

Koffi is the reason they got papers and live in Europe, otherwise they the opportunity would not have been there. Then they do "revelation" interviews, while they sing Koffi's hits at bars to make money on the weekends

For years I would've agreed with you @masatomo, but the more I thought of it, the more I realized the 2 sides

yes its always the two sides in all groups yes leader did you this and that but you benefited this and that
at the end of the day i guess its part of our music to have some who openly talk about their upset and some who will keep it for themselves
i agree with the songs "kossa kossa" thing they have enough songs themselves for most and it is actually a golden opportunity for them to promote it now they do not really face competition from those coming from kin if i can say it like that
