In the context of being at the top of competition, Koffi Olomide's response with Andrada was approprite. I believe that Koffi is a firm follower of some various of the 48 Laws, since he went with law 6: "Court attention at all cost".

Putting himself out there with songs that allude to rumors of Wemba's affaire with Rosette Kamono (among other things), brought gossip and fan interest to Koffi. This generated sales and popularity.

Going into the late 90s, it was time for Koffi to eliminate any competition both in Europe and in Africa. At that time, Zaiko's popularity was slowly going due to their recent records not connecting with the masses and a lack of touring in Europe, however they were still making noise.

 Not to mention that Papa Wemba was not too far behind Koffi, making his comeback and attacking him through "mutu-nguba" animation.

Hence law 15: "Crush your enemy totally". First came Rond Point, a taunt of good measure for Zaiko and then the album Attentat which effectively dealt with Papa Wemba. Around the time of Bercy of 2000, word of peace talks betweem Wemba and Koffi started and his attention then shifted towards the next big rival...J.B. Mpiana & Wenge BCBG!

Although, I do wonder if Wemba ever really forgave Koffi for Attentat...some of those taunts were very harsh! Especially Babia's part in the song Nul n’est Parfait, I don't know if I could ever be cool with someone who airs out dirt within the family for public entertainment and gossip.

Yes, it made him sad. Saying in a interview that if his mother was still in life that she would let reconcile them. Then Koffi mocked him saying that how is it possible that a old man ike him could still cryabout his mother who died a longtime ago. Papa Wemba was really hurted the way he was beefing with Emeneya & Koffi. So he made a vocal about that in the song Okomi, from the Mwalimu-album. Saying that they are jealous because he his a handsome guy, they hadn't succes, tjat they are beefing for nothing just because of girls and money. Btw Mwalimu album was recorded in Kinshasa, way before they perfored at Zenith & Olympia. When Wemba perform at Olympia with Nouvelle Ecriture they mocked the late Didi (Koffi brother) in his Olympia, which made Koffi furious. Saying that they don't have the right to mock dead people. Then after the release of Force de Frappe & Mwalimu it became silent between the two guys.Then 2 or 3 months before Wemba's Bercy they reconciled. But there were rumors that Koffi was working on sabotating Wemba's Bercy. But despite that Wemba was praising Koffi alot in interviews that he's a educated guy,etc.. But when Koffi won the 4 kora's during the kora awards he was a little bit jealous and said that it was a fraud, etc. With Koffi's camp mocking him and the Congolese press labeling him as a jealous man who don't want to see his collegues progessing in their work. But it was nothing in Koffi's eyes. They meeted eachother and planned a concert at Zenith together for Wake Up. With Papa Wemba visiting him during a concert somewhere in Germany or Belgium with the former Fioti Fioti dancers who stayed in Europe. But something went wrong with the concert getting cancelled, then Wemba's camp started attacking him. Not long after that Wemba got arrested ofr the ngulu-affaire, but Koffi still performed at Zenith, where he gave his goodbye-concert. This all made Wemba's fans angry, saying that he couldn't do that to his former mentor. It caused even fights in Chateaux Rouge between Koffi and Wemba fans. After that Wemba came out from prison and he revealed that Koffi was the only Congolese bandleader who wrote a letter to him, when he was in prison. Then they become very close during the Maisha Parc-era until that Koffi sued him in 2009 with things getting worser and more worser when Koffi stole Wemba's sidekick. With Wemba not inviting Koffi for his wedding and attacking him in the generic of Matire d'Ecole (Araignee). Saying "Felix Wazekwa, Meje 30 les linges salle se lave en famille, mais qui le salit toujours ? " with Koffi then recording a diss against Wemba for 13eme Apotre, but never came out. Because that his friends said not to do that. With Wemba attacking Koffi in every interview until his death and saying that he could never forgive him, etc. That he is a real 'yankee'm because that he smocked weed when he was young, while some started to drinka whole bottle wiskey when they were already aged and thinking that it makes them gangster, etc. Then Koffi tried to reconcile him with the help of Vicent Gomez, but it didn't work. With Wemba being furious and attacking him the next day in a interview with Magalie Sisi, saying that he would never forgive him and that Koffi can't come to his funeral if he dies, etc. calming Werrason & JB down that he didn't betray them. In every interview he keep saying that Koffi shouldn't come if he died and not after that he passed away.

That dance was particularly harsh and pointed (embarrassing Koffi completely), so I think it was fair then becuase all things were on the table during that beef and Mbuakela era when nobody was chilling on either side. The Boulevard de Star episodes had QL & Ecrita memebers looking like they were ready to fist fight on sight. Both tarnished their reps among the conservative audience for a while as a result.

The success of Attentat & the Bercy hype effectively shutout the Fula-Ngenge album until Mwalimu was released when Koffi & QL were basically chilling (and slowly planning Force de Frappe) after their successful Europe tour/stay & all the money and gifts they got. Everyone in Quartier Latin were rolling around Kin in Benzes while Wemba had his reputation for barely ever paying people (always "forgetting" and giving fake sermons to change the subject  ).

After that Wemba came out from prison and he revealed that Koffi was the only Congolese bandleader who wrote a letter to him, when he was in prison.

For me that's as humbling as it gets. In dire situations, very few people will really look out for you. All his donor friends also we nowhere to be seen during that ordeal, otherwise he would've avoided prison time instead of qiuckly going broke during legal proceedings.

Thank you guys, you all have provided so much information I had not known! We all can agree that Koffi made very strong power moves in the 90s, subsequently positioning him as among the biggest artist going into the 2000s and beyond. However, it all came at a great personal cost...

Once you involve people's family as a topic of polemic songs and interviews, the dynamic of music becomes very difficult to seperate competitive creativity from vicious slander. The only way in my opinion that Koffi could of genuinely mended their friendship is if he publically renounced Attentat and apologize on behalf of those associated with Wemba that would have been offended by the album's content.

However, it is not in Koffi's character to do such a thing, especially at that time. In my opinion, Koffi doesn't put too much trust in friends, especially those in the same industry since they are more prone to become envious (Kora situation with Wemba) or tyrannical (like Fally Ipupa, Ferre Gola, & JB Mpiana kiekiekie).

Touching briefly about Wemba's prison sentence and Koffi's letter, deep down I do believe that they truly cared for one another. However the business of the music industry makes familar faces become enemies and strangers friends, it's the nature of the business my friends...

Everyone is guilty and time heals that petty stuff, so didn't matter as much later on. Don't forget Koffi was also a victim of family attacks, particularly in the V12 era when Nyoka Longo loved that rumours were being spread that he was dating and sleeping with Koffi's mom. Crazy... And people were adding fuel to the fire saying he did it to get some of Koffi's "success formula" at his peak 90's popularity, since Zaiko was in clear decline, with Longo having kicked out the Zaiko orginals and being stuck in Kin mostly.

the most frustrating thing about this classic is that all of the tracks aren't on the vinyl issue does anybody know why ?

there's LP's that runs in the same minute as v12, and it still got all of the tracks on it even if that was the case they can just add another vinyl to even it out; The people at sonodisc were just lazy

My favorite rumba is Aspirine followed by Fouta Djallon. I also like the diss songs Andrada & Nouveau Testament. I wonder what Papa Wemba was thinking when he heard Andrada. But i prefer Malanda Ngombe as diss-song. All sebenes are excellent. I really like the way Blanchard Miantezolo played bass on the album. Who played lead on Andrada ? Felly Tyson or Beniko Popolipo ? Because Felly Tyson never played the distortion in concerts. Which made me think if it was really him who played lead in that song. Zokere & Bambino were also good rumba's. Those songs are so underrated.

I got the chance to meet Tyson in Aubervilliers back in 2020 and he said that he lead, Koffi rhythm (on the singing part), Beniko mi-solo the whole song and Lebou rhythm on the sebene-part.
