Rumors were spread that JF then slept with his wife/girlfriend or one of his sidekicks which made their band already split after some months. Soon after that JF returned to Kinshasa and formed his own band ABG and recorded the album Force d'Attack which was produced by General Dabira. He settled then in Brazzaville where he was giving almost everyweek concerts.

Depitsho tried to return during the time when Quartier Latin already returned in Kinshasa after their Europe/Africa tour of 2000. During the same tried to kill Academia by convincing Suzuki, Modogo, Lebou Kabuya and Mboshi to return in Quartier Latin. Bouro Mpela already returned after that Koffi convinced Bouro's father. I don't know why Koffi refused. Maybe that he found that he wouldn't fit anymore in the band.

Lol he shouldn't have stormed out after that concert in Switzerland then, he wouldn't have fit in the effrakata line up force de frappe yeah but not effrakata. Haha that group of depitcho, jf and Cesar loboko was such a flop thinking they were gonna be better than academia them three weren't even the best singers

Out of all the members of Academia that Koffi encouraged to return to Quartier Latin, Bouro was the only one that would of return with their previous status still intact.

The remaining members of Academia would have to jump through navigate so many hoops just to secure a couple vocals on Effrakata, had they returned. One thing about Koffi that we can all agree on is that Koffi is that he keeps account of past injury

Actually, he was pretty forgiving over the years, he gave lots of second chances - Suzuki, Mboshi Lipasa, Champion, Rocky Blanchard, CNN, to name a few of people who got second/third chances in QL.

He even allowed the dancers back who conspired with one one of his ex bodyguard to accuse of sexual assault as part of an extortion plot (they admitted it after a while). This was back in 2005 or so.

they were not a group who wanted to insist on being super singers but a group like jf still says today of handsome and charismatic guys doing music for fun

In recent years, he's softened. Back in the early 2000s, he was still hard against former members. I doubt they would be welcomed back with open arms if they made a return.

Even the ones that eventually did, they weren't recieved with the same vigor as when they left

Not necessarily. If you were very talented he would be lenient, even in the early 2000's, otherwise CNN wouldn't have made a return in late 2003, Bouro 2001 & 2005, Eric Tutsi. He had lots returnees on reserve during the Affaire d'etat & Monde Arabe era.

he would actually all Academia-members welcome with his open arms. Because back in 2000 they were a big threat to his succes in Congo and Africa. So he tried to lure Lebou, Mboshi, Modogo, Bouro & Suzuki back with money. Mboshi a crie about that in Viagra. "nga batinda nakima che-guecara nga na bo, nga batindi nga na finga che-guevara nga nabopapa" and also cries about those spiritual attacks they were getting from Koffi. "Kingoloto Antoine tika ba kadia" or "Nazo banga bako liya ngai ooh pona Academia, alingi biloko nioso ekoma ya ye ntima-ngolo, ntima-ngolo yaya lelo osuki ye, etc." But on the end they all ended up in Quartier Latin because of being broke and not more agreeing with Sam anymore. Suzuki not recognizable anymore when he rejoined Koffi in 2006 in Bandal looking really skinning.

I don't know in which country it was but I guess Burkina Faso or Cote d'Ivoire, Bouro said then in a interview 7 years ago that Koffi called the concert organisators to cancel their concert there with them being blocked in the airport (things he used to do many times to Wazekwa if West-African countries were inviting him for concerts)

Yeah La Chic Puissanca. Some helped JF recording his first solo album Demolition. You had also another band back in 1995 I forgot the name which had Jus d'Ete Mulopwe, Shulay and Didier Anaconda they had an album called Ramadan which doing it well in Brussels. I think that JF always talks about JDL if he talks about the friend he got in Wenge BCBG and the secrets of JB Mpiana. They were all five in Wenge Aile Paris if I remember well JDL as keyboardplayer and Jus d'Ete, Cesar, Depitsho & JF Ifonge as singers. Wenge Aile Paris was overcrowded.

Good point, you've made a good point! I feel really bad for Suzuki, the man couldn't establish something good for very long. I thought he would make something of his performace with Wenge BCBG back in 1999 and join them, but he didn't. Then his run with Academia was shortlived, before running back to Koffi...it seemed like a solo career in those days were damn near impossible!

Rocky didn’t left in 1999. He was still there you can see him playing in the Droit de Veto-VHS and Stade des Martyrs concert. Rocky left in 1997 when Motinigia of Zaiko joined with Ql having 5 bass-players. This made Rocky angry and he took revanche by joining Zaiko who was beefing with Koffi and took Motingia Tunga’s place. He then rejoined Quartier Latin before Olympia when Motingia rejoined Zaiko after a conflict with Koffi. Rocky had to be with them at Olympia but his visum came to late which made him miss the tour.

How can this guy call himself a musician....not only he can’t sing but his voice is the worse I have ever seen.
