I am here listening to the new Salif Keita album, which is quite good. I am wandering do other countries in Africa do what congolese does as far as mabanga? I know some countries copied animation from Congo and had some form of it their music. I'm just curious if mabanga is common?

Some of Malians and Guinéens artists do mabanga through their lyrics; no where near Congolese though.

I lived in that region for a while so I understand a good portion if the lyrics

Congolese man it's like a whole list. Especially long generiques even the animators too.

Coupe decale is a very stripped down congolese I think.

For it is the unique names in the mabangas

Mabanga is common in my country,Nigeria. It is part of the tradition to sing for some certain people, it is not peculiar to the Congolese people. Though it is never a long list like the Congolese people do theirs. Praise singing is a norm/tradition in Africa only that some take it to the next level and do it more than the others.
