Were those concerts at Stade des Martyrs lucrative like those of Europe or were the bandleaders performing there just for peanuts?

Just like the European concerts I hope Stade De Martys concerts can return as well. Fally was supposed to play there a couple years ago but it got postponed.

not really,it was more about pride of saying i played at martyrs and i filled it and a good amount of the income went back to paying sorcerers and co who "did the work" to fill stadium,so technically those concerts changed nothing in their pockets
but it attracted donors,i remember for example my friend genta getting 15K cash for having given 15 times or something like that a shoutout to  one guy in the same martyrs concert,so if a not super super important member then like genta made money imagine the big bosses

So its basically only good for their cv as artist, that sucks.

I was wondering about that years long after watching Koffi's interview in 2001 which was made when he was about to release Force de Frappe. The journalist asked him why he was never performing at Stade des Martyrs or l'Esplanade de Palais du Peuple and him giving the excuse that he prefer to perform at Zenith or Bercy were the prices of the tickets are 300 ff then performing at Stade des Martyrs or Palais du Peuple were they pay 1500 fc or 3000 fc (just not wanting to admit that he was scared to get a big mpiaka like 1999).

2 years ago, I saw Werra's press-conference in London of 2000 on youtube where he went to mobilize people for his event at Bercy. Then on some point before explaining Kusangila's health issues, he tried to brag that he filled Stade des Martyrs the way soccer-match AS Vita Club vs CS Imana  fills the stadium and then journalist Sam Mpengo Bey putting him in the place by saying that it was a plein of just "2 dollars" with the public becoming angry and Werra's face reaction being like "pona nini o reverser nga boye lol" and quickly replying that most of families in Kinshasa only live with 2 dollars. It made me wonder what kind of concert would enter more money between a vip-concert at Hotel Invest, Grand Hotel, Cinemax or Salle de Congres de Palais du Peuple and a big concert at Stade des Martyrs, Stade de 20 Mai, YMCA, Stade de 24 Novembre or l'Esplanade de Palais du Peuple.

The interview that shocked me was the one of King Kester Emeneya back in 2000 after the release of Longue Histoire with Christian Lusakueno when he used to work for Radio Panik . Christian Lusakueno was pro-Koffi and tried to denigrate Emeneya by saying that he never performed at Bercy, not Zenith nor Olympia like Koffi. Emeneya replied by saying that he filled Stade des Martyrs and that Koffi Olomide wasn't able to that with Christian reacting that the most people entered Emeneya's concert at Stade des Martyrs by just giving just beer caps of Primus which made Emeneya angry and replying that Koffi never performed in Japan. It made me having something "wow it was just a plein ya lokuta" and years later a friend of my who was present at that event, releaving that he only filled 65% with me doubting about that but later on agree with him after watching concert again, seeing that the cameraman was only filming on one side and the podium being on the middle of the stadium.

if we have to keep it completely honest,our musicians made the most money through music abroad,koffi was performing less often than jb and werra in drc overall but was negotiating very strictly better contract,while jb and nsone accepted performing much more for a similar profit,plus their primus and skol deal
even many of the zeniths and co did not bring crazy money,the guys were making up to 10 times what they made on those mythic concert on a weekend of concerts with sassou with their matolo luck being exceptional
which is why musicians often were upset after those mythic concerts,because they always though than given how big the concerts are they'd be able to get more than 500 euros max each while they barely get the 500 with a lot of explanation from mbuta kiss,eliott and co who'd tell them "eza tournee promotionnelle,toye ko nginda awa te,mutu na mutu qui cherche ndenge ezalaka kaka"
leaders used those concerts to reinforce their glory,and took most of the money as usual but those concerts gave birth to sponsorship and donor deals which they refuse to share with musicians(diamond businessmen and co)
