Well, being a BaKongo of course Diantotila is my favourite song, and I have to say that I have been mesmerized by the quality and the diversity of the rhumbas Ngando really made a good Zouk song and Nicodem has deliver a great song Kokoko which reminds me a little bit of Lacoste Boniomai style songs.
I will rate and analyze the songs singularly.
Arata 6 (A/C Werrason)
I really don't know why this song was made and why has make it to the allbum it does have some cool moments but not enough to make a danceable generique and it is too bad to be the 1st generique on the second project it is too much of everything and despite the Arata choir the song is lacking Wenge fondamentals of rhytm and identity it seems like a mix between Parking and Taxi Jaune.
I gave it a 6 because if Parking (which is to me a very bad generique) is danced at parties well even Arata will be loved but actually it deserves even a 5 because it drops the quality level of the album.
I don't know why but it actually grew on me lpl
Cour Supreme D'Amour 9 (A/C Werra & Hugo Synthè)
It surprisingly reminds me Kamasutra by Ferre Gola's rhytm in the first minutes while developing into a more Carlito Lassa type song in the last minutes the rhytm is on point but I think some singers were not really the best fit for the song. I would have loved if this Song was a solo vocal by Cafe Rhoum.
I really can envision myself dancing this rhumba at parties and events. Bravo Hugo Synthe I gave him an 9 because it really keeps the tradition of that Carlito style and Classical Congolaise Rhumba alive.
Kokoko 8/9 (A/C & Nicodem Kanday Ngoy)
Nicodem really did his work on his song I gave him a 8/9 and not plus because sometimes he sounds out of tune especially in the first part of the somg but noy the rhytm and the choir is on point especially the accordion and the accompainment guitar. Like I said it really reminds me a Lacoste Boniomai tune when he just released thise Boniomai sebenes.
Abotombe 7/8 (A/C Werrason ft. Fabregas)
Fabregas is hilarious. Anyway Fabregas solo parts and the choir is on point (even though you can hear that the choir wasn't properly mixed) what I was surprised by this song was the rhytm, is classical rhumba but really not the style of Werra which is a positive thing since honestly I didn't expect this kind of rhumba versatility in a Werra's album.
I gave a 7/8 because of the mixing choir part otherwise this would be a great song in fact it seems like a new song from a New version of Techno Malewa. Fabregas has the ability of making every rhimba song looking better and he did it again on this song.
Couleur Batomene 8.5 (A/C & Werrason & Paul Batomene a.k.a. Ngando)
Wow. I hope I will find the video of the first time Paul Batomene a.k.a. Ngando sang and got picked on by everybody at La Zamba. It is astinishing to see how he change his voice and intonation. Going to the song it is maybe the first time that Werrason master the 1st voice style he always tend to sing with and following the rest of the Zouk global scene this song and Ya Levis's Katchua are the bedt song in 2019 hands down and the instrumental also is on point it seems that it came directly from the French Carribeans.
Victor Bosoku 7 (A/C Werrason, Nicodem Kanday Ngoy & Papy Kakol)
The first part (Flute and Synthe) is badly mixed and it drops the level of the song. Once again I would kept the first part like it is and remove Nicodem from the second part and let Cafe Rhoum sang the second part solo in fact if you close your eyes the second part of the song seems Nadia Pay Pay by Deplick and to some extent Safula Nge by Brigade.
I grave it a 7 and not higher votes because of the mixing and because of the choice of the lead vocals. Nicodem have become a great singer but on this instrumental you needed a first voix lile Cafe Rhoum to counter the low vibrations of the song.
Yeke Yeke 10 (A/C Weerason ft. But Na Fillet)
It is weird to see Fabregas and But Na Fillet on the same Album after But Na Fillet went solo knowing how Fabregas tend to get very angry or kinda oblivious towards musicians who left VillaNova
I gave it a 10 because once again after the Zouk Song Coleur Werrason hit again the 1st voice notes well and well But Na Fillet is the singer every lileader wants a natural 1st voice who can effortless go higher. It is kind of a bit of a continuation in the style of Victor Bosulu but with more kind of Fally's type Mangala Folklore/Fabregas's Zebola style But Na Fillet really takes the song to another level and no one could ever smash the role like But Na Fillet to me is the perfect song a full 10.
Nzungu Ya Ma Famille 6- (A/C Werrason)
It is slighty better then Arata but not enough to make it a decent song is a mix of different genre badly mixed too much Autotune and sudden rhytm changes with bad passages (The transition between a rhytm and another) it starts wiyth Malewa type than tried to take a synthe style close to Emeneya mixing it with Malewa but failing to do so then going back to a Malewa style now with then guitar then mixing guitar and synthe and then a bad passages lead to a too much autotuned Jamaic animating in an Arafatesque's Coupe Decale style and sometimes towards the last second Jamaic kinda manage to save his par but then again another bad passage and back to the melting pot andnthen back to the Arafatesque Coupe Decale style with Werrason singing and then again a Malewa style with make the song end.
This song is like when you let your baby cousing play with your keybord and you record all the messy soind and notes he produces this is wy I gave it a 6- actually I wanted to give it a 5- but Jamaic even though for a little time saved some parts of the songs.
Firmin Senga 6 (A/C Werrason)
Once again after DJ a repeated try to make Nigerian music to follow trends and to appeal to the masses and some English thrown here and there. Now don't get me wrng the song is decent but you can see it was totally forced towards Nigerian Afrobeat instead of developing a good song.
Even Innoss'B was doing these things until he understood that he should have come in with an original concept and finally came with Yo Pe and the AfroCongo conept which led to the biggest African song in 2019. If Werra can understand this he might have anothrr Zenga Luketo I gave it a 6 because you can enjoy the song but you can hear that is totally forced.
Docta Pitshou Makaya 7 (A/C Werrason)
I don't know why but it reminds menof a mix of the rhumbas in the album Anti Terro and Soyons Serieux by JB Mpiana, Franck Lassain Laisser Tomber amd Saba by Werrason
Anyway it is a very great song I can see myself to hear while I am with my girlfriemd instead of hearing at parties or Marriages. I gave it a 7 and not an higher vote because it is a little bit monotonous with only two major rhytms for the entire songs
Diantotila 9 (A/C Werrason)
A little history check. Diantotila means Totality or Of Totality: back in the daus Kongo Kingdom was caled by his owm inhabitants Kongo Dia Ntotile which really means Kingdom of The Totality menaing that rhe Kingdom would have been the Kongdom that has all the total aspects of a functioning society. In fact there wss a currency used as coin (Rafia) a centrsl goverment situated in M'BanzaKongo the capital and rules to succession for being in the Kingdom.
End of the history background back to the song
This is my favourite song of the album since I am a BaKongo and BaKongos (despite Werrason being a Bayaka, those BaKongos who were rejecting BaKongo rules and went away from the Kongo Kingdom turning into mercenaries or unfortunately slaves sent in the Americas by the Kings of Kongo Kingodm or by the Slave hunters) love to see their music highlighted in such a wide range and on a big scale with that said, unfortunately the song is not good as his first part (Zenga Luketo) but if Werra would make a video I see it contesting the success of the generique (who despite being well received to me aren't really strong to carry the whole album). I think this song is not as good as Zenga Luketo because it has too much Lingala and too less KiKongo to be a pure traditional song and too much world instruments (Guitar was invented by a black person Robert Fleming Jr. So it would be pointless saying White or European ismtruments). I think that Werra could extent the last part of the song where he animates in a BaKongo way a lot more.
I gave it a 9 because I can see it being danced in wedding, partis etc. but is hard to see it danced by the old man of the BaKongo areas. I wsh Werra made a full Kintueni song with his style instead of kinda shy tring like he did in this song.
