It is a pity that none of the Mpela Brothers had a decent solo career. The boys are so talented, voice, good looks, dancing skills, what went wrong?

Guys like Alain do normal jobs but still do music on the side for example they get invited to weddings and parties to perform for which they get paid. For example it was my uncle's 60th birthday a few years ago and Alain Mpela along with some ex Zaiko Musicians like Adamo Ekula were invited to perform.
The reason why Alain and Bouro didn't succeed was because they didn't capitalise from the moment and also poor promotion and also outside forces did everything they could to sabotage their careers. If I was them I'd have joined forces again and they could have had a band together since their joint album was really good.

back in early 2000's when afande left bcbg, one producer wanted to realise an album of the mpela's and the bula's together which would make a complete chorus given their abilities, under makaba's direction, but he received call from three big artists and stopped the project

Like you said it would be a strong force, not that they would be much of a threat to them but the rule of congolese music between  elders and youngers  is that "ba vieux ba sutuka comment ba petits babimi malgre presence na bango"
like a vieux of mine says, either they anticipate and succeed or act when its already too late(case of generation fally ferre)

This is killing our our beloved music, Kofi and the Wenge Clan emerged and dominated the music scene when they were very young, why do they block the young generation? Nigeria is dominating music because of young artists, Tanzania is now the music hub of East Africa because of young musicians in their 20s, but Congo? an old man of 65 years is killing competition. This is absurd.
