Isn't it a big disrespect towards Madilu who comes from Franco's school. Btw Koffi said years long that he wasn't making rumba music, but that he was mixing rumba of Tabu Ley and Simaro along with that foreign music (Julio Iglesis), calling it Tchatcho. Adding that it was basic-rumba. I think that Koffi would be furious if he heard about it, because he always see it as a big disrespect when his music is compared to his elders during interviews and often says that he isn't on their level.

Real rumba is the music that Tabu Ley, Grand Kalle and Franco were doing, which without programmed music.  Karmapa is also trying follow that musicstyle, but it is not the same.

It are the instrumentalists who are creating those rumba's. The text can be good, but if it doesn't match with music, then its another story . A good example is Wazekwa who has good texts, but who failed to have rumba's hits on his name. Since Abacadabra, there isn't a rumba that reached the level of those who were made between Henriquet and B.E.K., because Koffi wasn't working anymore with guys like Fofo Le Collegien, Ramazani, Philiphe Guez, Popolipo. Koffi had difficulties by convincing the public, despite his good texts he relauched his career as solo-artist. But it all changed when he started to work with Rigo Star on the Diva-album, which then also his first big succes after his collaborations with Papa Wemba. He started to learn alot from Rigo Bamundele, who was a big professional in the studios of Europe.

They don’t fail. Maika Munan made topalbums with Reddy (Prudence, Etoile, Ziggy), he was also the brain of Wemba’s albums (Foridoles, Pole Position & Nouvelle Écriture), the was also the brain of Fally’s Droit Chemin & Arsenal des Belles Mélodie. He arranged Wenge El Paris’s Le Monde Envers and Wenge Maison Mere’s topalbum Solola Bien.

Beniko Popolipo was the brain of Karmapa’s albums Je m’Apelle Toi & Temps d’Amour. Rigo Star was the brain of the topalbums made in the late 80’s and 90s which made Reddy getting interested to work with on Queen Lina & Injustice. You will notice that Reddy’s work went down when he stopped and worked less with Rigo Star & Maika Munan, letting his band do the most work who hadn’t the experience and level the guys had.

Guez’s succes with Koffi made Werrason (Solola Bien & Kibuisa) &  JB Mpiana (TH & Internet) come towards to him to work with them on those albums.

I agree as Koffi is getting very discredited for his work to build who he’s become. The arrangers and instrumentalists are very influential to the recording process, but it’s ultimately the artist who we drive success of a song/album with their execution of vocals and/or melodies.

No comparison in my opinion. Koffi stopped making timeless rhumbas in the 90s. At parties, DJs prefer Koffi’s generiques as opposed to his rhumbas and then play songs like Couer d’artficiel, Eau Benite etc. Legit rhumbas. It’s like comparing apples and oranges.

Why you only give Popolipo, Do, Maika, Rigo... credit but not Koffi himself, one thing you need to know Koffi himself is olso an arranger and producer, Koffi co-arranger most his songs if not all, Koffi compose the music he compose most the guitar but he doesnt play it on studio because is not good enough for studio that why he always you see people like Popolipo or Rigo play it.

Even Papa Wemba and Emeya always said Koffi is a very good musician, Papa Wemba himself said "Mère Supérieure" the lyrics was wrote by Koffi and the cassette audio sent to him where koffi sing the song and play the guitar himself.

I remember once asked P.Kalle, why Koffi is faux chanter but he is very successful, he answer me "Koffi know the music very well, you dont have to be good singer to know the music." 

There are many reasons why Koffi couldn't have good Rumba like before, first it age how many 64 year old you know still have hit after hit, the second is he prefer today to play seben rather than Rumba for obvious reasons, the last reason for me is the number of the songs, you cannot have 30 or 40 on one album the quality will not have on it, remember he used to have 6, 7 or 10 songs on the album.

Don't make it like it is for Beniko, Rigo or Do. It is now almost 30 year for Rigo, 20 year for Do and Popolipo dont work with Koffi but he still have huge succeed. When the lass time the all have any meaningful succeed?
