What made the impact of Variete Samedi Soir becoming from 1998 becoming less?Was it Zacharie Bababaswe move to Belgium in 1998? Or Wenge BCBG, Maison Mere & Quartier Latin not performing anymore since 1999? It think that the last biggests shows were the one of Wenge Tonya Tonya in 2001 and Papa Wemba towards the end of 2002 when presenting Nkila Mogrosso before going jail.

I wonder what Maison Mere, BCBG and Quartier Latin made not going there anymore. Back in 70, 80 & early 90s would have those counter-shows, for example when Isifi Lokole performed after their birth, Zaiko Langa Langa immediately hit back the next week. Or in the late 80s, Zaiko Familia Dei giving their first show and the next week Zaiko Nkolo Mboka performing and presenting their new musicians.




It would have created polemic, if Wenge BCBG immediatly performed the week after it, but they went the same week to Europe and also didn't perform when coming back from Europe.
