Sometimes it happens that singers write some song in the same period, but releasing it years later or on the next album. Listening to the songs C'est ca la Vie of Etoile (1998) and Deception Serkas of Ziggy (1996), it like a part 1 and part 2 of a true story.
Deception Serkas is a song dedicated to donor/diamond businessman Serge Kasanda. The song is about a woman living in Kinshasa, who came with her family to the airport of N'djili to receive his fiance from Europe after years of waiting. The man (Serge Kassanda) had to marry her. But the Serkas didn't show up and later on they received a telegram (back in the days you hadn't facebook, whatsapp, etc.) that he wouldn't come anymore. The woman was really disappointed and cried.Some moments after they heard that he married someone else in Europe, which really hurted the woman, because she spent years waiting for her.
C'est la Vie is about a guy (this time Reddy uses his own name) living in Europe getting informed that his wife/fiancee Aimée who's waiting for him in Kinshasa, is cheating on him and the man crying about her. Saying that the elders were right by saying that Kinshasa isn't the place to leave your woman alone to wait for you.
Was the story that Serkas married somebody else in Europe real ? Was it a sham marriage with a white woman to get papers in Europe, to be able to get back to Kinshasa and finally marry the woman ? Who informed Aimée that Serge married somebody else ? Was it a jealous guy, who had for long his eyes on her ? We'll never know. If it's the case then it remind me the movie of the late Mangbau "Maitre Paille", which was like the same story (I forgot the title). Spagetthi who was waiting for years for her husband (I think Johnny Nsakala) to come and a guy who was liking Spaghetti saying that her husband married a white woman to hurt her (while it was just for the papers). Spaghetti after months finally advances accepting his until that her husband returning to Kinshasa, being really mad.
