Why do Ivorians hate him?
The videos dissapeared from youtube. But in 2014 just after release of 13eme Apotre Koffi Olomidé was invited to perform in Abidjan. Back then the generique Selfie was number one everywhere. Apparently Koffi agreed on contract with the concertpromoter that the concert wouldn't be filmed. But when coming on stage he saw drones and various camermen. This made him angry. He first didnt want to come on stage but changed his mind. After 2/3 songs he decided to perform Selfie. During Selfie he was multiple time mentioning the name of the concertpromoter to come on stage. But the concertpromoter didn't, thinking that Koffi was about to humilate him. Then suddenly Koffi cut the music off and said that he would not continue the concert because his contract wasn't respected.
Those who attented thought first that he was jocking. But after some minutes they realized that it was real. Koffi and Cindy went back to their hotels. The musicians and dancers were abandoned in the hall and started to get attacked by angry fans. The day after it Koffi made gave the reason why he cut the concert. He was supported by some other Ivorian artists like his friend Meiway. But the Ivorian public was still not happy about it and saw it like he wasn't respecting them. From that moment Koffi didn't return for years to Ivory Coast. For example, the show Papa Wemba did at FEMUA in 2016 where he passed away was normally meant to be Koffi's contract, but Papa Wemba got it due to the conflict.
In 2018 Koffi finally returned, but he show was boycotted and everywhere they were anti-koffi posters. He also came in 2019 to attend DJ Arafat's funeral, in 2021 the funeral of his friend Hamed Bakayoko and during both visits the Ivorian press would write things that made the Ivorian public mad. Like for example that he apprently asked a big amount money to sing for Hamed Bakayoko's mourning. The same year he performed at FEMUA 2022. He first didn't want to perform because he was scheduled at 4:00 am but the organizers made him perform at 6:00. When coming on stage the public was also not warm. It made him really furious and cutting the show after 15 minutes. He felt sabotated and in the following days/weeks Asalfo (the manager of the event) and Koffi Olomide would attack each other in the media.
