It's really difficult to launch a solo career because you need donors to pay for studio time, music videos, and a capable team that can coordinate concert or club appearances. Don't forget, having strategic friendships can protect you from sabotage from bigger artists and nkisi.

A lot of people prefer the security of being in a group. After a couple years of exposure, you can take the small donor base and fans you have to launch a solo career more comfortably.
