so looks like masela that filed a complaint against werra and co,because back in the days the maison mere people were saying that it was jb and monsieur simon who did that, and this is the tour ali mbonda keeps talking about until an interview of today that they accepted going to prison for two weeks to defend the case and get back the passports so that they could travel(and that today werra has forgotten and sends people to talk bad about him)

I wonder if the Werra-JB rivalery would still be the same how it became, if they didn't manage to get visa's for Schengen. Imagine Solola Bien being done in Kinshasa by Ndiaye with that Studio Meko-sound.

Claude Maluma once  said in an interview that Didier Masela just filled a complaint towards Canada and Congo DR, about them not having the right to use the name of Wenge Musica, but they managed to sort it out. According him the problems of visa's were because of late Simon Ndjonang and Kapesa, who still mad about how they suddenly cut the tour of 1996-97 and also the money. Mpaka Ikombe also said that Masela filled a complaint towards Congo DR and Canada, about forbidden them to use the name Wenge Musica and that his mother hold a press-conference, where she made clear that her son fired all musicians from Wenge Musica Maison Mere. But I can understand Masela's reaction, the way Christian Mwepu was acting towards him along with other bandmembers was so disrespectful and Werrason acting like being innocent. I don't understand why Mbetenge is defending Werrason and approve the stuff Ferre, Baby and co were doing to Adolphe. In other interviews he was often defending Adolphe.

That rivalry would’ve probably been dead in the water if Solola Bien was done in Kin and Maison Mère couldn’t get Visas. It would’ve just turned into Werra vs Marie Paul. I still wonder how Force D’intervention Rapide would’ve sounded if it was done in Europe.

Can you give a summary of the interview?
Its still amazing that Masela and Adolphe were able to forgive Werra and ferre and co after all the stuff they did to force them out, I remember Adolphe after he left he said to Ferre Baby and co that all the stuff they did to him it will backfire on them and the same thing will happen to them and he was right because look what happened 4 years later.

I agree with Prince. Solola Bien would've still done well if it was recorded at Meko or GND (JP Kiss' old studio before he moved to Ndiaye), but it wouldn't give Maison Mere the push they needed to become international stars and it certainly wouldn't have amped up the JB/Werra rivalry in that case. If Maison Mere were stuck in Kin like El Paris, how would they compete with BCBG if they couldn't schedule a show on the same day JB did Zenith?

If I remember well Mbetenge said that Wenge Maison Mere separated because of Masela and Adolphe not being able to accept Werrason’s leadership. Then saying that Masela

Also that the story Ferre told about Mbetenge insulting Werra’s mom in a nightclub the video, wasn’t true, in the video they did against Adolphe and that Aimelia wasn’t even there. Mbetenge adding that it was the restaurant of Jacky Watunda and that when he came in, he saluted Sankara and influent fan. So when he wanted to greet Ferre, Ferre shaked his head and refused to give his hand, which angered people in restaurant, who it was as disrespect. Because of the story having spread around Paris, he profited to do react on it by coming with the story of Mbetenge insulting Werra’s mom. But since it’s the past, he doesn’t mind.

When coming to the part of Masela, he said that Masela was the founder of Wenge, but when they came to London and the problems of visa’s for the Schengen Area not working out, he preferred to leave because of not being patient to wait. So the prepare their return to Kinshasa by going to Canada, he became furious and jealous and decided to sue them, which made them getting arrested. When Maison Mere finally managed to get in the Schengen Area, Werrason asked him to get Masela, since it was Maison Mere’s first concert in Paris. After that he went to praise himself how  Werrason got received at Gare du Noire and Chateau Rouge, talking about how full the concert of Villejuif was of people and that Werrason even could do Bercy that day, because of the amount of that were outside. That the story of Masela’s departure wasn’t true and that Werrason himself didn’t want Masela to leave.

When coming to the point of Adolphe, he said that a country doesn’t have two chiefs only one. That Adolphe forgets that people went to the concert for Werrason and not Adolphe. Also that when Werrason is the chief, he had to follow the rules and that he had to be on the same level of the remaining musicians. That he didn’t want wear uniforms and have own intro’s, that it doesn’t work that way, etc. Also that there was never a band of two leaders.

When coming to the foundation of Wenge Tonya Tonya. Mbetenge said that he & Jeannot Petrol founded it and that he came with the slogan ‘simba motema toleka’. At that time he was in conflict with Werrason, because at Bercy he said in the lockerroom after the concert, that he didn’t thank the fanclubs during the show, Werrason being mad, saying that Mbetenge only complains and tried to humiliate him. Because of that in Switserland something happening to him. Which made him mad and deciding to leave Maison Mere.

Suddenly on 4 in the night, Adolphe called Jeanot Petrol and Jeannot calling Mbetenge, explaining that Adolphe decided to leave after performing in Strasbourg. Then they went to the hotel where Adolphe was staying and they saw him crying not knowing what to do and saying the musicians didn’t like him, etc. and that he need to help me. Which made Mbetenge and Jeanot Petrol help Adolphe out. But Adolphe was not was not grateful, because they went to Switserland, going with 800 kilometers and also 800 kilometers back. Adolphe doing a playshow, getting 10.000 Swis Francs, not even thinking about give at least 500 swis France. But when going back to France, they got arrested because of not having a visa for Switserland (back then Switserland wasn’t part of Schengen). Mbetenge then paying all the money they had to pay the fine they received from the police. Adolphe not giving anything, while they had to put money for gas and toll. When it became the moment to return to Kinshasa, he adviced to Adolphe that he had only one rival (Werrason) and that he had to focus on putting sementing his band well, also that he had to give the images of his first concert to him. But Adolphe had already received money from Papy Ekonzo to produce that. Adding that Adolphe is a coward (about not wanting to sign a pact) and that he had never seen a musician like that. Adolphe saying that he’s a Christian and can’t do it and if Mbetenge could do that stuff for him. Asking where Tonya Tonya is today, while Tonya Tonya had power and was the only band that only fight against Wenge Maison Mere

Maika Munan’s participation was crucial for the arrangement of the songs. The way the prepared was a bit different than the final product.

Btw the slogan/cri Solola Bien came when they arrived in Paris. It seems that they also took it last minute. I remember hearing a studio version of Solola Bien without keyboards and Bill Clinton just animating Mbuji Mayi-Kananga during the last part, but since it was filmed live you could hear Maison Mere-singers just screaming Solola Bien on same time in studio. They would use the same images as 1st video-clip of Solola Bien. It was on a VHS made by JPS were you had also Zaiko singing Desquilibre in the studio. Naelis uploaded it on youtube 5 years ago, but all videos sadly disappeared.

In the cd of US-Studio which was the pre-version of Solola Bien. You could also not hear them animating the slogan/cri
