The album was recorded when Lidjo Kwempa managed to return to Europe after being stuck in Zaire for almost three years following his deportation. Once back in Europe, he met up with his friends Stino Mubi, Gloria Thukadio, Kito Dembela, Alex Azulino, and Kaps Kapangala, who had just left Viva la Musica and together they formed their own band, being fed up for the way Papa Wemba was prefering Nouvelle Ecriture above them.

They first recorded Lidjo Kwempa's album Cour des Grands, which also became the name of their band. However, shortly afterwards, Kito Dembela was deported. Not long after that, they were contacted by Viva’s staff and asked to rejoin Viva la Musica. They then recorded Timololo's album Mwana Matebu and performed together at the Zénith de Paris. However, I wonder how Lidjo Kwempa managed to shoot the music videos in Kinshasa. Did he immediately receive his papers and were the videos recorded in the same year or did he have to wait two years before being able to do so? It's a shame the album being very rare
