He sounded tooooo good in Viagra he changed his way of singing compared to Quartier Latin voice and managed to blend his voice from Magie and his Ultimatum voice.
He wasn’t messing around in Viagra and you could tell he was just having fun. I prefer the way he sings in Viagra compared to the way he sings now, He’s not bad at all but just sings a bit mellow and doesn’t put the effort in as much and sings a bit like Modogo now it’s like two different people.

true its a shame that ngulu affair and leadership made what remained of academia explode,even though the dynamic and collective level is nowhere near the sanction team they could have given us another strong album,sam would have then be seen legitimately as the first succesful "children" of koffi with that new children debate people love the fact it went south so quickly after viagra makes people say "sam tshintu kutu ye wana asuka wapi...kaka fally mutu asali makambu ya bien apres koffi" when people want to  ridicule koffi's legacy and insinuate things to belittle him while the academia guys  and then sam when he became dominant leader did glimpses of what artists are credited for having a great career today,feat with urban artists,guest at urban artist concerts,tours even in countries like mayotte and so on
that gap between ngulu affair until sam and bouro then modogo did their individual albums ruined all of them nothing was never the same after(except bouro getting more hype than them via the two latino returns of then

If we’re talking successful children we might have to put Sam/Academia up there because they had a good run for 3/4 years. Sam was born and ready to be a leader but as you said the ngulu affaire killed them.
Personally I would’ve preferred them to have done Viagra with the exact same lineup as sanction and then do the third album with those new musicians

When Sam took full control of Academia here you can see the group was promising and there was talent there

mannn sam on zabalumbu was something else the whole package of his vocal range

Zabalumbu is too underrated it deserves more respect.
