Today it's 25 years ago that JB Mpiana performed at Bercy. Looking back at the event, was the backlash, criticism and all the hate that JB Mpiana after the show  justified ? What do y'all think about the shows of Congolese artists that came after it (Papa Wemba, Fally Ipupa and Ferre Gola) ? Did they manage to equal or surpass JB Mpiana's show ? Also y'all believe that JB Mpiana will be able to equal or surpass his Bercy-show of 2001 ?

The sound of the VHS version was so underwhelming the CD version was much better. How did they mess up like that?

I don’t think anyone after corrected his concert but I also don’t think JB corrected Koffi’s Bercy, in fact none of them did!
I don’t know if Jb’s will surpass the 2001 Bercy because he had a better line up then like a prime Alain Mpela, Les Pipiyu even the old guard were better back then.

what i love about the 4 early bercy's is that its literally 4 different concerts,you dont get  a similar feeling and this what is great
in terms of sound,the papa wemba due to less crowd offered the least work to do in editing/going back to studio and so on

I believe that they reworked the guitars in the studio for the CD-version. They sound totally different from VHS version. I hate it that they cut off the part of "muana mobali asuanaka te" from Walay Danico and not included the intro of Wenge BCBG on the cd version.

I excepted to see different throwback videos and short-docu's on tiktok about JB Mpiana's Bercy of 2001, like that of Werra and Koffi last year. But I only saw one page doing it.

It shows how Koffi and Werra managed to renew and attract new generations of their  compared to JB Mpiana, who got stuck from 2002/02. As some like Jessy Matador from 1982 being the only urban artist who mention JB Mpiana as inspiration. While urban artists of Congolese roots that are born 1990s and 2000s often mention Koffi and Werra, but not JB.

It will be intersting how the crowd of JB's AccorArena will be. Will it be like Zaiko at Zenith 2026, which had a mix of all generation or like Ferre Gola at AccorArena which had mostly people of above the age of 40
