Wemba was a very bad guy when he was on top. He did killed many bands and ruined lifes of families by making the moms pregment,etc.

If you look at most succeesful musicians from Congo these days, most of them have links to Papa Wemba, he's not directly involved in causing break ups of bands but he probably gives honest and sound business advice that it's better to be a solo artist or have a band with fewer leaders than being a band with 6 leaders and the leaders always bickering as they fight for power. These days it's just illogical to be a group act especially with the current scenario where musicians cannot even tour due to the so called combattants who are up against them. It's best to be a solo artist and put food on your table and have change to do other businesses, JB Mpiana, Werrason, Ferre Gola and Fally Ipupa are shining examples.

After success of their first album sanction,the seven leaders sam tshintu,modogo,mboshi lipasa,somono dolce,paty bass,bouro mpela and lebou kabuya plan to have a couple of concerts in kinshasa to make their force even stronger as they know even if you start in europe you have to come back to kinshasa to get more recognition
their first return is like could be expected a success,then it gives some of the leaders like somono who is the official founder of the group idea to hire new musicians and act like kinshasa-based groups,with dancers,several singers,back-up guitarists and so on
their second spell in kinshasa marks the departure of bouro mpela who is influenced by papa wemba to become a solo artist and by koffi olomide who with a lot of money convinces bouro to join him again and causing pain to academia boys who were calling him "kisimbi"(can be translate as devil in english)
the rivalry between koffi and academia was very fierce as could be heard in albums like attentat and sanction,and koffi getting bouro was an attempt to destroy them
lebou kabuya is also contacted then but refuses to betray his friends
meanwhile,two former high profil quartier latin members suzuki luzubu and beniko zangilu popolipo had joined the group,and musicians like eric menté,pitshou mpinimoké who becomes pitshou concorde,tshétshé de bal,tonton lay and so on are recruited
the group is now like a kinshasa one  with over 15 members
they record album viagra but in the same time sam tshintu who was chosen as group president and his fellow administrators somono and lebou kabuya started having leadership conflicts as they all wanted to show their authority to new group members
nevertheless,album viagra is releaed and the group starts touring,but tension between sam tshintu who was basically against having a larger band,and somono,lebou kabuya who were seeing sam really establish as a dominant group president with a closer eye on group's finances and recruitement,suspsions and so on
their friends outside from the group instead of helping them solving their issues encourage each of them saying to them "you are the true leader of the group"
the three leaders talk to each other less and less and in november 2001 lebou kabuya leaves but maintains good relationship with their producer,french rap label secteur a whereas sam tshintu now as his sight on kinshasa with other producers ready to collaborate with the group
paty bass follows lebou in his project and their record volte face with support of secteur a whereas sam mboshi,modogo and the remaining academia members  go through a tough time as the group is refused visas as all congolese groups are suspected of human traffic
somono also leave few times after and sam remains as the big leader with modogo and mboshi his administrators

Papa Wemba must have done something very bad to Sam Tshintu in my thinking for Sam to accuse Papa Wemba of dislocation. I blame Sam because he let his ego get the best of him.

Guys you must understand that except the core base of Congovibes the people who post read or comment everyday there are a plethora of people who come to the forum the first time and usually they search the big names to make an idea about the post. Even if the topic is 10 year old if a newbie is interested is our job to make him feel welcome and guiding him for understanding more Congolese music
