Over the years, the excitement that comes from Congo Music has gone down exponentially. This is attributed to the fact that old bands/artists are losing the energy and because of the ''pollution'' coming from the western music fashion...thirdly, music has centred too much on Fally, Ferre, Koffi Olomide, JB, Werrason and to some extent, Wembadio, Tshala Mwana etc, but these are just individuals that probably will not give you anything new now. Congolese bands are concentrating on one character too much, which overshadows other band members and this does not promote free flow of artists the way we saw it in the old Zaiko, Wenge, Noveau Encriture, Empire Bakuba, Extra Musica etc. To sum it all, competition has been killed.

The solution is for a band (s) like Extra musica, wenge musica to emerge and challenge the sleeping giants of congolese music. Can you imagine if Abraham Mignon, Nono Fuji, Zakoko, Zulema, Abel, Atshuda, Didi Kalombo, Bebeto, Patou solo etc, formed a band?....you will have 3 albums coming from them every year unlike this time were an album comes out after two years. Its pathetic....

There is so much involved in music. Piracy has contributed a lot to what music has now become because musicians no longer count and bother about CD sales, it's actually concert performances that feed them so it's best to be working under a popular musician nlike JB,Werra,Koffi etc than go solo or work as a group.
We've seen groups come and go,it's due to greed as it's difficult to share money when you have 5 leaders in a group and remember,you can be a good singer but lack in something else so success would not be guaranteed if for instance Patou Solo,Abram Mignon and others formed their group,it would be temporal success.

To my opinion, Most of the Musicians are somewhat selfish, We do not need Many bands, but we do need competition so we can get something new.

A group/Band can not raise from anywhere and we all come to agree that they are perfect, they have good music and that they are good to go.

To run a Band, people need MONEY, ALOT OF IT, they will need sponsors and the only way to get that is if the Public understands their music and gives them support.

The easiest way to do this is if BILL, FERRE, FALLY, LACOSTE (Just to name few) Team UP.

 - The question comes, Can they manage themselves, just like the way WERRA, JB, KOFFI or WAZEKWA manage them?

 - Oh, did i forget - What happened to Les Marquis?

 - Now if you are Heritier OR Mignon :

 1. What will be the first thing you keep in Mind when you want to go Solo?

 2. Will you think of taking old band members? Will they even agree with you?

 3. Will you be able to manage them like your old Boss did to you?

My friend, every year, minute,day,week,month and year that passes we grow older. Stop referring to the past, am sure you're an adult and can reason better. This is a new year,forget the rubbish of yesteryear.

I agree with that a new energetic band should come. Something that is similar what Extra and Wenge Musica was earlier. I think the problem is not only the difficulty with CD sales. Several musicians who came to Europe are now in better circumstance, yet they deviated far from Congolese music. There are several showing up as disco dj's, etc. I don't say they are prohibited to change to other styles, but it seems it is not just because of the money problems why we are left hungry. Besides, I also don't find it wise that it became a trend for every band member to form an own group later. It just decreases the quality of music in the long run. They should find the balance between forming a new band and staying together. Individualism went too far in this sense by now. The Congolese flavour is also starting to disappear from the music. I respect Nyoka Longo in the sense that he is trying to keep a good standard for his band. They still produce listenable things. Also respect to other exceptional figures who didn't give up the authentic way!
