Why don't we make it a rule that if you post in a language that is not English you also post the associated translation.some of us non lingala speakers are starting to feel left out again .

Guys please don't  feel left out,i doubt any of the lingala speaks in lingala in a post destined to everybody,it always when one of us respond to a fellow congolese,just like sometimes there are some swahili messages here
 dont make a big deal of it,i promise to translate  what the guys say whenver it happens

Thanx archos, we will all try to summarise the conversations in English. I know sometimes it's difficult to explain in English so some of our colleagues once in a while want to respond to each other in languages they understand best like it has happened.
I also agree with you on some people saying stuff in Swahili, I found the same problem on one forum called ''Yekola Lingala'' on facebook which has mainly Kenyans, people on that forum have a habit of translating from Lingala to Swahili instead of translating from lingala to English, I complained but I was ridiculed by a majority of Kenyans who have the nerve to tell me ''to learn Swahili because it's one of the world's main languages and it goes hand in hand with lingala,'' this kept happening each time I complained and suggested that people also translate to English and I got the same response, a few Kenyans found sense in what I was saying but they too were ridiculed so in the end I just stopped contributing on that forum.

No problem. I now understand why,it's the same as Tanzanians so in Kenya and Tanzania, Swahili are main languages and English is like secondary so sometimes people find it hard to explain properly in English especially if they happen to be from the same country so they prefer to argue in the language they both understand well. 

I think those of us who understand lingala will try and summarise if need be coz some of our brothers may actually be using online translators to post on this forum in English and may not necessarily speak English.

Some Congolese do speak swahili as well, I do remember that when Maison Mere came to Dar in 2000, Adolph was interviewed in swahili though he is not that fluent. I like the ascent of Congolese swahili, we have a number of Congolese Musicians here who speak swahili with a Lingala ascent, and most of Tanzania Musicians who play our Version of Congolese Music try to speak like Congolese, there is a famous radio advert here of a local musician who speaks like he is Congolese and when he is approached by Immigration officer and asked  to show hi passport he switched the tone to proper swahili.

We talked about this before when the forum returned....i'm congolese and certain things i find it funnier saying it in lingala when responding to a follow lingala speaker directly, so why should we translate that when its not meant for everyone

Shamala from now own when myself or the other Lingala speakers speak Lingala I will add translation if they haven't done so already so you and the other non Lingala speakers can join in the fun and not feel left out.

Hahaha....I'm American I speak English fluently.

SLY which name do you use on F/B? You've always complained about Swahili use in Yekola Lingala I think I should single out your case as we will be meeting as members of yekola Lingala on 1st June in Nairobi. just give me the name you use so that i can connect with you. I just wanted to repeat again that Kenyans like using English more than Swahili and if in a case of Swahili then its a case where its something that maybe unofficial to put across.
