I've heard of stuff like that before, hopefully the dancers atleast get some money from that forced side hustle. Dancers are their to dance and nothing else. Hopefully the 5th generation on has stopped doing that process.

Kaisari was just pulling your leg  There's no way the dancers are there just for dancing especially with all the past pregnancies and the amount band members being fired because of relations with dancers.

A lot of these dancers are enticed by being able to travel abroad, get clothes, possibly housing/car, etc so they don't really mind the other activities they have to do for the job. Often times their parents give blessings to the leader during recruitment.

There are exceptions like the very small number of dancers who were daughters of donors and the wealthy, which I believe made the bosses shelter them from the extracurricular activities.

I used to be alarmed by Wemba when he brought his Fioti Fioti dancers (mostly 14-17 years old) to his big Euro concerts in 2000. Maguy (R.I.P) was I believe 15. He was just asking for trouble then.

Wazekwa has begun to break new ground by not so much controlling their lives, allowing them maternity leave and return, decent salaries without side work, etc.
