Who is the bearded guitarist and where was he recruited from? It seems to me he is with them since the US tour.

Relatively recently. The album: Baobab in 2018. It is available on Spotify.

I have mentioned previously in another thread that Dany Engobo has released some really good stuff recently being loyal to traditional sounds. So I was very happy to notice these days that he and Diblo Dibala is together again to record some new stuff. If Dany stays on the track, it will be something that's worth looking out for in the next couple of months.

Thank you for the encouragement and recognition of the work we put into this forum! We are doing our best to keep this forum running and provide a place for you and us, Congolese music lovers, that is our mission.

Donations can be a good idea, and there can be occasions when due to the cost of some neccesary upgrade we may launch such a campaign, but at the moment I am fine with how it is, the advertisements can cover such costs. I am doing the maintenace here as a passion for Congolese music. But thank you for your offer anyway, I appreciate it very much!

Congolese Music / Forum outage

Hello everyone!

The forum had a technical error and had to be put on a break. Now things are reinstated and the board is reopened, but further maintenance breaks can be expected in the near future. Some data was lost, the posts from the 27th of August were deleted, so if you don't find  topics from that point, don't be surprised. People who registered after the 26th of August will need to register again.

If you experience any errors, please report it in this topic.

Congolese music does not need to be put on the map again, because it is already on the map. It is called Rumba, Soukous and Ndombolo. But artists stopped playing these, or play them on a low level, and that's why the success is not like before. After the Zaire era ended, the old donor system disappeared and nowdays artists cannot find their way in the new system. But on the other hand, many artists became lazy and opportunistic, putting more emphasis on  short term small profits insead of long term goals and vision. They behave as "peasants" instead of "prophets". The mentality has to change. Internationally, a record with lots of machine and programming filling up the space of missing bandmates will never be respected as much as a record with a real full band. It can satisfy old friends and a small fanatic circle in a diaspora, but not a wide audience across the globe.

For me all these people were big until 1997. That's why, my answer to this question is that: the reason is that they were not together any more after the split.

What a pity the video has these artifacts. The original recording quality was very good, it's a shame that this couldn't be grabbed from the master tape.

It is not possible to upload videos to the forum. You need to upload it to a video streaming site first, like Youtube, and share the link here.

What a pity the sound is so bad. The Dallas and Kenya concerts are fortunately better in quality.

Thanks my friend!

Anyone knows who played the solo in this song?
