Congolese Music / Fabro and Brigade: Ambiance Pure
« on: September 17, 2021, 16:50 »
Wenge will never die!

Fabro has potential as an atalaku, yes or no?
Not too many current atalakus can mess with Brigade's repertoire of good animations. Almost an hour of one cri to the next. Hope he (Brigade) shows up at Zenith

Congolese Music / THE ORDER
« on: July 31, 2021, 16:00 »
I was thinking of most of the popular singers/atalakus with memorable cries that have been through WMMM. I think I got this order right. It covers their post-WMMM popularity and commercial success

1. Ferre Gola
2. Bill Clinton
3. Heritier Wannabe
4. Robhino
7.Deplik Pomba
8. Ambulance
9. Lacoste
10. LBG Cappuccino
11. Lobeso (because he hasn't released any memorable work)
11. JDT Molopwe
13. Miel de son
14. Eboa Lotin
15. Tade

My assessment is based on what they've done over the years since leaving WMMM

What's your order?

Congolese Music / Il etait une fois....
« on: July 30, 2021, 08:46 »
They were once what Celeo and Bill are to WMMM. Unfortunately they both fizzled out and are no longer the dream team they once were. Anyone knows what they both are up to these days?

Congolese Music / Whatever happened to this guy?
« on: June 16, 2021, 11:35 »
Koko Ntiri...He is a student of Flamme's school of lead guitar. He did some very nice licks on Bill's works but has now been replaced in Bill group. Has he joined another group?

Congolese Music / ALAIN MAKABA FI SOL
« on: February 25, 2021, 12:14 »
Sometimes when you take time to actually enjoy the parts that make FI SOL awesome, you have to give it to Alain Makaba, he's more than talented than given credit for. His consistency with the partitions are phenomenal. His licks are crisp and simple but also full of tricks. He had a major impact on Wenge. His many progressions within the same generic/sebenes are quite enjoyable. I wonder why he stopped playing ...anyone knows?

Also, the Kitise la ya mate cri @4:14, whose is it? Titina or Tutu?

Congolese Music / looking for a generique, maybe you know it
« on: July 03, 2020, 10:15 »
I was listing to my online channel yesterday and they played a medley of Wenge 4x4 instrumental with Alain Makaba on lead. towards the middle of the medley, CNN came in and animated the rest of the way. I couldn't find the name of the song which is usually posted. I liked it and would like to listen to it again. Do you happen to know this generic/medley by Makaba? Thanks

Congolese Music / This guy understood how to do it
« on: May 09, 2020, 10:46 »
When you go to a party you want to dance and have fun..I think this guy just did that at this wedding. He only played fast tempo generiques and knew exactly when to cut in with something new and the songs he knew people would react to. Lots of shoutout to old school music...I would like that one day..

Side note: I watched all 30 min of it. Not a single Ferre generique..I guess the jury has reached a verdict on Ferre G's Generiques... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Congolese Music / The beat goes hard ...BISOU
« on: March 21, 2020, 23:52 »
Le Vieux Awilo still got it, but less than 2 min though?

« on: March 15, 2020, 16:31 »
Not sure if this link has been shared here before. By far this is the best internet radio for Congolese music. it plays 24/7 and has a large repertoire of music from former greats to current greats.

if you have other valid links, please share. Thanks.

Congolese Music / SARA SOLO
« on: March 11, 2020, 17:31 »
Did she take part in Formidable? Do we know what songs she played solos in? Is she still in WMMM? Things have been quiet lately with that group....just curious..

Congolese Music / AMBULANCE....
« on: September 08, 2019, 12:54 »
Is Ambulance back? This was posted Sept 02. I didn't see Jamaique on this one. Wenge MMM is quite unpredictable if these atalakus are coming and going just like that. I saw Liboka also....

If Ambulance is back, does mean Bercy made him leave Heritier already?

Congolese Music / EVER BEEN TO LONDON?
« on: February 23, 2019, 12:42 »
This song is about breaking your back I like that people all over are catching the fire...but I don't see much backbreaking here. But the real question is have you ever been to London (at the 5.20 mark)  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Congolese Music / FROM ACROSS THE SEAS
« on: January 06, 2019, 15:21 »
This band, SOUKOUS EXPRESS did its thing in the 90s. It took me a while to know that these dudes were Antillais. They ranked in the Dr. Sakis, Dany Engobo type soukous , but regardless they stuck to soukous instead of Zouk.

Is this what is commonly called Culture reappropriation?

Does anyone know who their soloist is?

Congolese Music / FALLY'S INFLUENCE
« on: December 16, 2018, 11:06 »
Except for Extra Musica whose Etat Majeur was vastly used in choreographies, Fally has the most copied choreographies of all modern-day musicians. Just about all of his generiques are covered in choreography. Original was big when it came out, now this also has a followership. His music may not always be catchy but his dances are widely known, which invariably makes him more popular and a commercial success than others.

If I'm wrong enlighten me... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Honorable mention: Rosalinda "Break your back" is also doing it....

The woman in traditional clothes killed it at number 10, then number 6. Yours may differ...

Congolese Music / Any information on this generique?
« on: December 02, 2018, 11:50 »
Just wondering if this is part of an album in the works or just a maxi-single? either way, Jamaique will shine.

Impatiently waiting for this. would be nice to hear Jamaique in a studio version of his works. He's quite flexible with his voice. I just hope he doesn't get burned out doing all the work while others are slacking.
