How To Play It / Bozi Boziana - Chama Chiko - Solo Guitar Tutorial
« on: November 27, 2021, 23:47 »

Thanks Mfumu! Do you know the mushrooms they are showing at 29:00? Pio, that is the word they are repeating, I wonder if that refers to it's name?

Congolese Music / Re: Big legend/guitarist Bongo Wende passed away
« on: November 24, 2021, 11:47 »
Big artist gone. I talked to him last year to show some of his tunes, but he hadn't been playing for a while due to some illness.

I managed to trace it back, this is that video where he is talking about these things. Could you summarize what he is saying?

Congolese Music / What is this hype of Okuma Village by Roga Roga?
« on: November 23, 2021, 23:41 »
He is repeating the name of this village all the time in songs titled Racines, and he even has a video visiting it. So I guess that is where he grew up, but in the videos it seems it doesn't exist any more, and he wants to rebuild it. It seems do me as if he is talking about that Ngouabi was born in that village too. What is the truth about these things? Is this all just a legend, and that place never even existed, or it was his birthplace indeed?

Dear members,  I discussed this recent problem with DJ Sly, and here is our conclusion:

First of all, please show respect to each other.

Secondly, sub boards like the WMMM one are useful, because it is not good if the first page of the main board is filling up too fast. As the forum grows bigger and bigger, new and new childboards are a necessity. This is totally normal in forums. I know that originally the WMMM sub board was not created for this reason, but at the recent state of the forum it is useful, it is a popular topic, it deserves a separate section anyway. That's why we will keep it, and I ask everyone to post WMMM related things there. We won't sanction anyone who forgets this once or twice occasionally, or posts something that is only partly WMMM related into the main board, but by default, stick to that rule. On the other hand, we understand that it is better for a post to be public, so we lift up the restriction on that board, and it won't be members only any more. We believe that the people who made us create that board as members only are not around and don't pose a risk any more. Things might change however, but we will give it a chance.

Finally, we are not willing to set up any limit this time either about how much one can post in the main board. We are trying to keep a good balance there, but as soon as a subject will outgrow others over a longer period, and will push other topics to the next pages too fast, we will create a sub board for it, be that Wenge Musica, Zaiko, or any other band. Because this is how it is practical. Like when it happened when Anastasio was around.

Besides, my offer that I mentioned earlier still prevails, if anyone feels they would like to post many topics focusing on a specific subject, and it would deserve a separate section, they are welcomed to request a sub board dedicated for that subject. Like Mwana Mokili did it when he asked me to open the Old School Music board. Of course, we won't let too many sub boards to be around, instead, as I meantioned we will try to maintain a good balance. But in case of reasonable requests we will evaluate a new one to be created.

So please calm down, and I hope this way we can satisfy both sides.

Congolese Music / Re: Extra Musica Niamey full concert (1998)

Isn't this the concert where the Africa Live DVD was taken from?

Who is the bearded guitarist and where was he recruited from? It seems to me he is with them since the US tour.

Relatively recently. The album: Baobab in 2018. It is available on Spotify.

I have mentioned previously in another thread that Dany Engobo has released some really good stuff recently being loyal to traditional sounds. So I was very happy to notice these days that he and Diblo Dibala is together again to record some new stuff. If Dany stays on the track, it will be something that's worth looking out for in the next couple of months.

Thank you for the encouragement and recognition of the work we put into this forum! We are doing our best to keep this forum running and provide a place for you and us, Congolese music lovers, that is our mission.

Donations can be a good idea, and there can be occasions when due to the cost of some neccesary upgrade we may launch such a campaign, but at the moment I am fine with how it is, the advertisements can cover such costs. I am doing the maintenace here as a passion for Congolese music. But thank you for your offer anyway, I appreciate it very much!

Congolese Music / Forum outage
« on: September 04, 2021, 06:03 »
Hello everyone!

The forum had a technical error and had to be put on a break. Now things are reinstated and the board is reopened, but further maintenance breaks can be expected in the near future. Some data was lost, the posts from the 27th of August were deleted, so if you don't find  topics from that point, don't be surprised. People who registered after the 26th of August will need to register again.

If you experience any errors, please report it in this topic.
