The VHS version was definitely better than the CD version, the Sebenes were more aggressive a bit faster and just overall I liked the songs more on the vhs. The VHS it’s more of Willy Bula doing the animation and showing his talent, whilst in the CD it’s a bit of both of Willy and Koffi. The CD is still really good on its own though.
I wish Koffi released the VHS version of the album as the CD instead or just separately because the Videos on Youtube are of decent quality but nowhere near the actual CD quality

Style Kapaya is way better then the felly quartier Latin style of play. The style of felly is sometimes super boring and bland.
It’s not that much better now, Kapaya’s style is overused and every group does it whilst back in the day everyone did their own thing. Felly’s style is a bit bland but back in his prime he was really good

He’s actually a good soloist, I’ve watched his tutorials on YouTube he’s good. I think I was too harsh on him when he was in F’Victeam because I was missing Alva.

This is sad 95% of génériques from 2003 were recorded there, plus many legendary songs. Artists show pitch in to help Ingénieur full JP Kys for all he’s done for them

Masta @CM Prince I know joked about being tired of that electric drumset, but i didn’t expect this

Ah, African fire departments… showing up to the joint well after it’s been burnt to a crisp
Oh yeah absolutely we’ve spoken about the electric drums but none of us wanted this. Hopefully artists will pitch in but knowing their mentality I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Never forget this is the studio where we got the legendary Tindika Lokito, Alerte Générale, Longitima Skol to name a few.

Willy Bula didn’t really had drugproblems in Quartier Latin. It was just that he & Suzuki used to use it alot. Like the way later Lola Muana & Bouro Mpela were the drugslords in Effrakata-generation. Willy Bula & Suzuki became really addicted when they were in Europe in the 2000s. I guess that it was due to them not having fame anymore and it affecting them psychologically with the drugs making it worser. If there was Facebook & Instagram at that time they would have been exposed multiple times on social media.
Damn I can't imagine how hard the 2000's was for them. It was hard at that for congolese artist to have a sucessful solo career with le Carré Magique dominating the game.
At least Suzuki tried with Décompte Final but Willy Bula went quickly quiet when he ran away in Europe in 1999 he didn't even try to release an album i don't know if he ever did a featuring.
One of my cousins saw Willy in Brussels in the 2000s and he told me Willy looked like he was on drugs. Willy totally fell of the radar after Poison, he was seen in Blaise Bula’s interview in 2002 and then he stayed out of the spotlight until he visited Blaise at his concert Brussels after Balia ngando.
Suzuki himself completely disappeared after leaving Academia I remember seeing him again when he visited a Bcbg concert along with Fally, Shella and co.
I don’t even know what they could’ve done.

Eric Menthe had personal problems with admin Kis Kisolokele. Because he agreed with Kis to give his passeport (which had some old visa's of UK, Europe because of Academia), to bring a ngulu to UK. Then on the last minute, when the ngulu was about to go to Europe, Eric changed his mind and went to the embassady saying that it was his passeport. The it messed the trip for the ngulu up. Kis was really furious and promised to himself that he would make it hard for Eric in Wenge BCBG. That's why it took so long for Menthe to get a chance in Wenge BCBG. Eric Menthe problem with Seguin about a sidechick made his situation worser.
Do you think it would've been better for him to join QL? Since his voice was a bit similar to Ferre and Babia.

i am sure this is one of the albums which got on your nerves bro, especially with that sam tshintu et l'akademia  thing
Loool I actually really like this album, I just didn’t like how Modogo and Mboshi didn’t get to songs on it, I wish it had more songs. But yeah I didn’t like it became too focused on Sam and the musicians only had one vocals. It’s the album sexy chocolat which really pissed me off loool

Sam had in reality just one song on this album. They recorded the remix-version of Zabalumbu, just to introduce the new singers of Academia and it was also the song where all members used to do vocals on it in concerts. Moprima was added to the album, because they signed a contract with Primus at time and them wanting a song dedicated to them for adds, The rest were just generics.

Academia wanted to release their album. But they weren't getting visa's for their Olympia and Europe-tour and also not finding a proper record-label who could fulfill their conditions. So not be out of fthe race (back in those days bands and solo-artists were releasing albums every year) they recorded quickly 4 Coins Kandala as an EP and preview of their album Droit d'Asile. In Droit d'Asile the admins Modogo and Mboshi and also musicians like Musika-sika, Pitshou Concorde, Tonton Lay, Eric Menthe, Guy Bazunga and co were susposed to have songs with it. But the musicians in Kinshasa were leaving the band one by one, since that all admins were staying to long in Europe until that Academia in Kinshasa disbanded and Sam Tshintu being left alone in Europe with Modogo and Mboshi and them wanting to make world-music.
Oh really? That makes sense similar to how Jb released the single of the Papito Mbala remix in 1999. Must've been so bad for Eric Menthe and Tonton Lay they became important members of Academia then the problems started and both went to Bcbg and QL respectively and had to start right at the bottom of the pecking order, with Eric waiting 4 years to record a Vocal where he re did the Vocal from Z2 in Francis Solution and then finally getting a song in SS, but he still wasn't able to show his full talent in bcbg unlike Academia. Also Tonton Lay leaving QL quickly I'm sure he would've had a vocal in Longitima Skol if he stayed.
4 years to record vocals on a song god damn who would wait that long

Loool that's nothing my guy, most people spend over 10 years in a group to wait and most still get no vocals.

Was this album really a success, compared to Viagra? Cause I would be shocked lol
Lol Mfumu has mentioned it so many times, it was a bigger success than Viagra.

Yeah exactly we can't just blame it on spiritual stuff because both Babia and Zulema had substance problems even Eric Tutsi (Funnily enough it's that generation of Latino Babia, Eric, Suzuki, Willy all had drug problems) Zulema got deported from Europe because of his problems, it has nothing to do with being sacrificed.
