Congolese Music / Re: FALLY ANNOUNCES U ARENA FOR NOVEMBER
« on: April 21, 2023, 18:05 »
I share that feeling, Archos. Knowing Koffi, he'll announce the date for his U Arena soon lol. I'm betting he'll go for June or July. Either way, both men had better beef up security. We know what happened before Fally's Bercy.

Normally, I would be surprised that Italy and Portugal have their own combattants but seeing as we have our own combattants here in the UK, I'll just assume that it's a western European thing.

Delay is being too nice, Archos. It's like CM Prince said, there's no way we're getting a proper Quartier Latin back at this point. That said, the way he pulled her close to him in the vid pretty much says 'don't be shy, join in' lol.

I can't blame them for leaving. If I knew I was gonna be overshadowed by my band's de-facto second leader, I'd leave too. Koffi really be simping out there for Cindy.

I'd also mention that JB not signing with JPS was just as big a missed opportunity as the constant postponement of Chemin de Fer, even if JPS did get in trouble and shut down his label as a result.

from 51:08 min Madilu was really evil how can you say something like that. I've never seen a former musician of his band saying something positive about him. It's always negative

Then again, this is the same guy who made a comment on one of his songs about not giving his band visas for Europe.

194 albums? Was he making an album every month?

It's more like the albums of other artists that he played on, as well as his solo albums. He really was one of the most prolific Congolese musicians.

Congolese artists and constant release date postponements. Name a more iconic duo.

Least surprising news of the year so far...

Congolese Music / Something about this particular song
« on: February 15, 2023, 20:27 »

So I was listening to A La Queue Leu Leu, really taking the songs in. As I got to Calmement, I was less than a minute in when I realised something. This was the only other song on the album, apart from Ligne 11, without any musical backings from Al Nzimbi or Philippe Guez. Instead, you have Papy Kakol and Thierry Synthe playing throughout the entire song rather than just the sebene. Even the intro was different; it just cut to the chase instead of starting with any keyboards.

I'm saying this because having familiarised myself with Al and Philippe's arrangement styles, I could tell who played on which song in which period. Furthermore, they also played keyboard on top of live drums on albums from that period and earlier (Al arranged Kibuisa Mpimpa but Djudjuchet played on the rumba parts; Philippe played keyboards on Solola Bien with Djudjuchet being the drummer and Maika Munan arranging the songs), but I didn't hear any of their usual sounds on Calmement. This was an all-Maison Mere song, right down to the Zenith intro. For all I know, this was probably the first song recorded for the album.

maybe if for example the genta song shines or any other of the rare sebene songs we'll get in current releases it will encourage people to get back on accepting to get it
there is one of the donor who went as far as trying to sue jb when he was made aware that he had a sebene song with several vocals, they remove the files of the song  and it became a full jb rumba lead a completely different song that kibens had to do in emergency

The fact that Joao Ndombele complained about Ferre making a sebene song in his name instead of a rumba, combined with the above story, says a lot about the donors' opinions on sebene. Makes you wonder how many songs from the past 20 years, not just by JB and BCBG, were initially supposed to finish with sebene, only to be retooled into a rumba just to satisfy next man's fickle desires and keep the money rolling. I agree with Longbluesquid when he says that they're killing our music and restricting the bands' creativity.

Try Youtube Music. That's how I'm listening to it.

This entire tune is a banger, but the part with Bouro animating until the changement de frequence is honestly my favourite part. I can replay it as many times as I want when I'm in a mood. That and the ending where Rama lets loose on that distortion. Everything was in the right place for this one, no part went on for too long, that's why it works so well!

Congolese Music / Re: BILL CLINTON PLANS MARTYRS FOR 2024
« on: January 28, 2023, 18:45 »
I’m also gonna perform at martyrs at the end of the year, 31st December specifically so save the date lol.

Sorry to steal your thunder bro, but that'll be after my double Stade des Martyrs this Christmas. Then I will bring the all-day Fikin back on New Year's Eve with tons of special guests ;D.

To think that we were all like 'Arteta out' 2 years ago. We just needed to give him time, we gave him time and now we're top of the league. Any other club would've sacked him earlier, but the board trusted him and it's paying off. Let's hope that he keeps up the good work and that the season ends on the highest of highs because this is the first time in forever that Arsenal seriously look like champions.

Yes, I was nervous during yesterday's match lol.
