Title: REFLECTION ABOUT BILL
Post by: Manzambi94 on January 25, 2017, 15:42
I think that what Bill really misses is a guitarist who acts like a leader, like Kapaya did when he went solo and used Bill and Celeo for his album, the strange thing is that Werra and him shared the same soloist (Kimbangu) and when Kimbangu was with Bill even though the talent was there never had the success that he reached with Werra after only one album, I think that Bill needs an atalaku of his level like Brigade, or Celeo so he can understand that being a legend is not synonimois of success. What do you think? What is the thing that Bill needs to change to be back on his old glory?
Because Lola na Lola might be a nice song, but is the opppsite of Bill's essence.

There are excellent and intelligent workers in an organisation who are managed by average people. Same with music. Bill lacks the art/music coordinator attribute. He thinks doing rap on a song is all it takes. Werrason has undergone a lot of training from the time he began music from playing a guitar to doing rap (atalaku) to singing then to being a coordinator.

If only these young stars had mind set of why werra replaces them with other and use the chemistry of arrangement their elders do.. JB, WERRA, OLD KOFFI, WAZEKWA, LATE WEMBA, EXTRA.. They would been very far.

WHY DON'T THEY ASK THEM SELVES THAT THEY EVEN FAIL TO PRODUCE A SINGLE ALBUM LIKE MIRACLE...

Bill has had good generiques since Les Marquis but for some reason has never had the top generique which is weird for someone who is widely considered the best (falsetto at least) animator of all time.

Generally, fans of this music don't like a one centered band. We love to see singers sing from chorus to sebene....not the bill structure of music..

Exactly EMOVICTEAM, everybody is better in a group. This solo movement is just not the way  :-\

yeah......this is why I think Robinio also has not made it. I think the likes of Abraham will.

I think everyone here is right about Bill. I don't think he's hungry enough to produce something that will stick for a long time. I can't remember which of his album but he had a song called Sidonde (i think) and that song was one of the best sounding sebenes at the time. the guys singing added flavor to bill's caliber. He came in to do the animation later. Simply put, he needs to diversify some and let the band be a part of the process.

that topic inspired me to get a bit of information in private and what is said is that what made bill lose it was that when  werra shifted to primus he got a hefty increase  in 2010 which made him go almost on par with jb and werra and from then it was all over he bought over 10 houses and  started treating music as something just for fun almost, luckily for him he is the only good artist remaining for skol so they have accepted the fact he performs less and less for them as long as he does spots for them

Archos you mean Bill got a hefty increase in sponsorship from Skol?

In music just like in business you must understand your strengths as well as your weaknesses if you want to succeed. Bill is probably the best atalaku of his generation. But there's more to music than just being a good atalaku. He should have surrounded himself with good people to cover his shortcomings. Good vocalists, musicians, managers etc etc and also be willing to allow other members of his group to shine.

That's why Werrason is doing well. He doesn't hoard all the limelight and glory for himself. He allows his people to become stars and in return the whole group thrives. Probably same reason why Fally and Ferre are also having good solo careers.

I have a good feeling about Robinho. I wouldn't write him off just yet. I like his strategy. He has maintained visibility and has stayed relevant and has avoided the "one hit wonder" tag. Soon enough people will be asking for more from him. His generique Tsha Nanu Boye is becoming a hit in Nairobi rhumba clubs

Well for the Skol contract, I think that Skol should have took the contract aeay from Bill for Split the money and give Fabregas, Robinio, Deplick, Héritier, Abraham, Abel comtracts so they could contrasto the ultra power of Primis whom is very popular in Congo. About Bill I think that the comment about good balance, it is absolutely right, the problem is that in Congolese world of music, you have a lot of Yesman ready to do whatever a solo artist tell them, and the solo artist don't like criticism about their managing of business, and if you criticize them you are fine working like the Ibrator case with Fabregas. Bill is slowly dying as an atalaku and if Brigade will make another powerful generique like Edende, Tshouna Baby or Affaire Ya Rando Bill is over.

Luxembourg made his name with Bill and i don't understand what you mean Bill and Werra shared the same soloist as Luxembourg spent most of his career in Kin with Bill and when he joined Werra, he inly did one album on which solo guitar was not the focus as it was more of techno sebene, only on Kakol's composition famously called "nzambe aza malamu" did we hear proper sebene but throughout the album Kimbangu was not mentioned as he had already left by the time the album was completed and released.

As Archos has rightly put it, Bill's strategy changed as soon as he realised how lucrative Skol's contract was. It all started from the single Tindika Lokito, Bracongo realised that Bill alone could do it for them and when he went solo after Les Marquis, they offered him a massive contract and he did his first ever solo project a single "Kiyoki na Kiyoki" which was successful and was well received by the public, this is what now gave Bracongo more confidence in Bill and they no longer cared about Werra as Bill is the one that composed all those popular Wenge Musica Maison Mere and Werrason and Wenge Maison Mere generiques.

Furthermore, other companies came on board, Bill started doing promos for different brands including milk, biscuits et al and that is how it's stayed even now, he concentrates more on marketing/advertisement and concerts as opposed to do straight music to release on CD's for sale like the rest of them do. He has his own niche market and though most people consider him to be finished, he is not,he just does unique things which are in contrast to what he did in Maison Mere, he has achieved more financially as a result of his corporate contracts for marketing. He remains the sole brand ambassador for Bracongo like JB is for Bralima's Primus.

I think that even if Koffi could do something spiritually and legally to break Bill's contract with Skol he doesn't do that because he sees this Bill relationship with Skol, as an occasione to weaken his friend/rival Werra and to weaken his enemy number 1 JB Mpiana. Because it is very strange especially for a Macchiavellian personality like Koffi to leave Bill with all those money.

SLY I don't in what world you live in but Bill is over, OVER, the days of Tindika Lokito, Kibuisa Mpipa, Solola Bien, Ala Queue Leu Leu are OVER.
Brigade took Bill's spot and Bill cannot replicate with great hits, not even for the marketing but for the music itself After Fukushima's Album he never did something at the height of his glory and let's face it, it is the truth.
What I meant is that Bill never had the problema of having a good soloist, Mayi Ya Nkamba it is a great soloist too, but what Bill cannot give is the Internationallity that Werra offers, Kimbangu was more searched by the Journalist even though he left, for the Malewa (Lelele) partitions he did. I never seen someone during the Ball Perdue, or the Bo Mpikiliki's era go to Kimbangu and have the same popular love he has when he went with Werra. The fun/show/unpredictibility factor that Bill had is now gone and almost no Atalaku dances like him but, even though he has done some great things Bill is over and Lola na Lola is an example of my theory.

Manzambi, Lola na Lola is not a proper generique,it's got more of a traditional touch to it and it's computer based, only the guitars were live.
Bill is simply just experimenting with his music just like Koffi is otherwise he is well capable of doing proper generiques like he did in Wenge. Music is evolving all the time.

I simply do not understand why you think Kimbangu made a huge difference whilst with Werra when he was simply there for just over a year if not less and he only worked on one album plus a single which was a political generique. His profile remained the same,he was already known for his exceptional guitar works whilst with Les Samurai's and that was why he was recruited without hesitation just like with Christian Bombole Airbag who too made his name whilst with Alain Mpela's Generation A. It is the likes of that lead soloist now Arc en Ciel who started on rhythm and mi-solo before being lead soloist.

I am not Arguing that Samouraus and Generazione A are big groups, but you have to admit that it is not like being on the spotlight with WENGE or Quartier Larin, or F'Victeam or with Ferrè
