Zacharie Bababaswe talking about the difference of Gold Records Bozi, Koffi, Wemba, JB and co used to get with that of Fally

I remember a historian about Congolese music (I only remember his second name diop) having an interview with Franck Stemay and I think Thierry Diawa 5 years ago, saying that Abeti Masinki dreamed about getting a gold record in France (the certifications in Africa, Togo, Zaire, etc. having zero value in her eyes) but it being almost impossible to get. So her husband/manager Gerard Akueson making an arrangement with SACEM and a factory in Germany for African artists to get gold records in France. From then Francophone-African artists having to sell 100.000 records around the world instead of only in France, but the gold record not being certificated by SNEP. Abeti Masinki then being the first to get a gold record and from the 90s Congolese artists like Koffi Olomide, JB Mpiana and co following. Zaiko Langa Langa missed their gold record with Nippon Banzai, because of selling it with multiple distributors, not being able to have a good sight on the total sale while Nippon Banzai being one of the 5 most sold albums in Congolese music. The same for King Kester Emeneya with Nzinzi.

So only Papa Wemba and Fally have a gold record?

That of Papa Wemba was apparently not certified by the IRAA in USA like he always claimed. According to the same Diop and one artist a few years ago, Wemba just received for having participated to a live concert of Peter Gabriel and because of them having performed Analengo, Wemba claimed it. He then received one replica, like he received one from Bisso na Bisso and that gold record being presented at Zenith 1999. But being in the polemic era, Wemba saying that it was for Emotion (I don't know if he was influenced by his staff), the press and people believing it until today.

What I don't understand is that back in 1999 after Koffi Olomidé and JB Mpiana received gold for their albums Loi and Feux de l'Amour. King Kester Emeneya and Zacharie Bababaswe made a VHS called "Dossier Disque d'Or" or something like that and they went to SACEM to look if those gold records were real and none of them being certified, but them only seeing Papa Wemba's name there. I am looking for that VHS, but I can't find it back anymore. There used to be an afroshop-website on interview selling that video. But that website got shotdown. The video created alot of polemic and many also saying that Emeneya was just jealous of Koffi Olomide and JB Mpiana.
