Christian Lema was with Papa Wemba's Viva, he's now based in Europe.

I believe it's because of the style of music played by Viva which is old skool and no longer popular otherwise if you look at the current leading musicians including session musicians, they have their roots in Viva or were inspired by clan Viva or Papa Wemba.

The other obvious reason is the age,character and outward appearance,charisma and even dancing skills of musicians  from clan Viva, most were simply singers who cared less about dancing and looking good despite Papa Wemba being the so called father of La Sape.

The Viva generation which promises stars is that of ''Bana Malongi'' comprising the likes of Echappé who is with Ferre and others young ones left with Papa Wemba.

Sly yes I do agree with you their too old like Viva they do not even care about dancing as much even with their songs as well it's quite old school but if you look at Nouvelle Ecrita from Bendo and co.and Nkila Mogrosso generation they are all basically generation Wenge (clan-Wenge speaking of age) but transferred to Viva you see where I'm coming from even Alpa's disc sounded a bit modern and Bendo's disc sounded a bit modern so I'm quite surprised that they stopped that quickly but Bana Malongi are promising

All those guys were old to compete with likes of Fally, Ferre and company. They all went solo very late and that includes the likes of Boguys Bompema. These clan Viva musicians are talented but unfortunately went solo very late, this is the risk that Wenge BCBG old folks like Kibens,JDL ,Rio and others face too, staying too long and reaching their expiry time and especially not moving with time as regards music arrangement.
