Apparently they are saying he was not put in. Now I agree with EMO who said the whole thing was a PR by KIN.

Selon son avocat, il va faire une demande de liberté provisoire demain matin mais il va passer la nuit à la prison de Makala. It translates:" According to his advocate,he is going to put in a bail request tommorow morning but he(Koffi) is going to spend a night at Makala Prison" That statement was issuied by his lawyer on the day of his arrest thus I guess he will be out due to mere success of his bail request.

Koffi did not spend much time in prison; definitely wasn't put behind bars in a prison jumpsuit.

 He's been forced (surprising) by team of lawyers to keep a low profile due to the sensitivity of the issue. As the article mentions there's no flight risk due to his celebrity status - and there's no sufficient grounds to keep him detained.

I saw Zacle Bababaswe on television taking this issue even further asking the Kin justice to extradite Koffi to France. Not taking sides - but as a corrupt politician himself, it'd be better suited if he keep quiet. If anything, this sort of Justice should happen to every citizen who breeches the law, not selectively to people who aren't on good terms with Kabila's administration. It's quite clear to most people that their feud is his motivating factor.

If anything, maybe Koffi wants us to think he's in prison so a grand public relase can be orchestrated. I expect a grand press conference at St James hall with the press and lawyers in the near future.

koffi's process will apparently happen in two weeks,pamela has done a couple of videos where she again  was told to say stuff...and she also begged authorities to arrest her rather than her boss koffi

zacle surely has not forgotten when koffi said on tv that  is head is so big so it makes his hat so narrow that if that hat could speak it would say "please set me free"

As predicted - he is detained, but not in the traditional sense. Like Franco in the 70's-80's when he was arrested and detained numerous times for various offenses  - he's in comfortable quarters - with his family by his side who have flown in from Europe.



My impression is most of you guys have become very anti-Koffi, however, most  big artists have had humbling moments like this.

Slightly similar comparison - back in '03 when Wemba was convicted in France for a legally worse offense, there was big speculation that his was career was over, especially with all the negative global media coverage. He came out a changed man - more religious, and more cautious of who his real friends were. He then became the highly respected Maître d'école.

Of course there was more sympathy from the general public in that case, but my point is, this is a situation which will forcibly cause big changes in the way Koffi conducts himself.

Yes hopefully he changes but for him to change it also depends on his fans,if you look at papa wemba's fans we can more or less say they have been a positive influence but will it be the same for koffi's fans who for most have been used for years to being either victims of haters or slaughtermen of weaker guys,latino's fans have turned more radical than maison mere's and that's quite scary
my advice for him  would be to focus on koffi central and release some singles here and there,less tv appearances
its high time for him to try to change a little bit that image,he is already certain to be remembered as one of africa's biggest artists ever,now he has time to make sure he can be reminded in a positive way on human level like his friends youssou ndour,meiway and co

Matebu5,the sentiment seems anti Koffi but the fact is he is the architect of his own misfortune! He brought this on himself.No matter what his supporters say to defend him,what he did was descipicable act which has no place in civilized world! He must change for better!

^ I definitely agree, but the same could be said for any adult who breeches defined laws. He's now under the microscope to a world audience, so change is necessary to save his future career.

One thing i did like in that period is how none of the musicians took profit of it to openly taunt koffi
