Came across this VHS poster I had saved.. The main condition was that Bendoson was told to participate in the recording of mbuakela song Malanda Ngombe, but girlfriend issues quickly took over, resulting in him returning to Nouvelle Erciture in less than week. Part of the reason he left Wemba was salary issues and the rapid ascension of Wemba's then new favorite, bulatulu Aphatshino (RIP). He never had the same stature upon his return, which is typical.


Koffi's Bercy had the most extensive marketing program of any African concert, with the date being set in late 1998 and some tickets being made available first quarter 1999. Various posters were everywhere in Chateau rouge, Matonge - Bruxelles, and near Bercy.

Bendo's second departure from Nouvelle Ecriture had a huge buzz. Creating "Nouvelle Ecriture de l'an 2000" along with Pompom Miyake, Ramazani and Christian na Nzenze, which was a huge succes in the first months, having the blessing from King Kester Emeneya. With people in Europe having the doubt if Papa Wemba would succeed at Zenith, having also negative VHS's of Quartier Latin about Papa Wemba around. But then Koffi messed up it up for them by getting Ramazani & Christian na Nzenze in Quartier Latin and Pompom Miyake joining Victoria Eleison (all fed up with Bendoson, who had then a big ego). After failing to record a solo-album, Bendoson decided to join Jolino along with Babia and later rejoined Papa Wemba again, before the ngulu-affaire.

I don't believe that Koffi would be able fill the Parc des Princes-stadium at that time, but now he could do it easy with strong marketing and maybe also Stade de France, if he didn't had problems with the French justice.

it was a good choice of Bendoson to go back to Nouvelle Ecriture at that time, otherwise he could have cursed his own career by singing Lola Muana's vocal in Malanda Ngombe and Babia's vocal of Nul n'est Parfait (who where both strong attacks towards Papa Wemba) and later being dumped. It was not really his own choice to join Quartier Latin like he state in this interview, he was solicited by other people (Do Akongo) to join Quartier Latin after having been fired by Wemba's staff from Nouvelle Ecriture.

He wouldn't have fitted well in QL anyway if he stayed it just didn't suit him
