Don't worry Bro its something you should be used to by now. The name Koffi is just not likable to many people, not just in here but across the world, he is well aware of it and instead uses it to his advantage. Back to Nyataquance, myself I hate kirikou parts and I feel he should leave QL as he is not the quality of this band. Nevertheless he will be sent away as he's now accomplished the task he was brought to do and the task was not about singing in Nyataquance.

what's not adding up is i think the people here are a special breed of what we here in america call 'music nerd'. they (in general) want artists to make music in such a specific way. as soon as it doesn't meet that specific criteria its considered trash. me personally i go by how it sounds to MY ears. the song sound good to me lol i was completely confused after reading all of the critiques saying he is over and the song was bad.
 

I don't sweat it. Once I get to see that I am not feeling a particular song, I go back to the old ones from the same artiste that I have in my repertoire and listen to them. And that settles it for me. I have got enough to fill in the gap.

2. In my book, i judge a song by how people respond to it. And here in Kenya it is a hit. My point of reference was Kenya so I wonder why you included Congo and the rest of the world!!!

Say whatever you want,call us nerd or whatever,the fact remains that it is a trashy song. Am a DJ and personally I would not play this shit especially because of the crap animation by a reject Kirikou who was rejected in two major bands.
Selfie is a bit different because Koffi did the animation himself and it is catchy though the lyrics have no proper meaning,it's just a song to have fun with not this Nyataquance which was overhyped. Am sure Koffi is paying young chaps to take videos of themselves and posting them to him so that he uploads them in his quest to make it go viral like Selfie,he may succeed but the song remains trash.

That's true, The song is making waves in Zimbabwe too  (Southern Africa )......i used to believe  in everything said in this forum but i realised not even one day all of them agreed in one thing and that means they are basing their critics on who they love (just like Real Madrid fans won't  agree that Messi is a star)..........This song for me it's good and sang by the African legend.............Selfie still today stands to me as the most relevant and best song in Africa  (it got the whole world dancing and showed Koffi's intelligence)

Koffi has realized that bubble gum music sells !, no matter how poor... this excuse of a song will be forgotten tomorrow and then recycled by some cover band in Nairobi

Just because something becomes popular doesn't mean its good. Obviously anything koffi releases whether its trash or not will go viral. Its a new song so of course the casuals will like it. But I bet after a few years no one will care about it, and they will go back to his older songs that were actually good. Happens all the time.

@sebene Maniac, you say that popularity is not a measure of a good thing. Maybe you are right but dont you think that whenever an artist releases a song all they want is for it tobe popular? It would rather be crap that captures attention than a gem that nobody gives a fuck about. So with Nyataquance may be crap but people are dancing in East, West and Southern Africa. I think that is what Koffi intended when he released the song!!!

Yeah SYMPLICITY, you may be right about that. I guess that's the way music is approached these days. It used to be required to make good music to receive approval and gain popularity. But once these big artists found out that they could make anything they want and it will still become popular and that fans will always have their back, they started focusing less on the quality, and more on the popularity. It sucks it has come to this.
