indeed karmapa's album was originally named le millionaire act 2 but this title came from when  koffi took 6 members of karmapa's group at same time and was approaching tatiana kruz hard and karmapa went on tv and said koffi is acting like mobutu who thought the world belonged to him and he could do whatever he wants because he was extremely rich and powerful and said mobutu was way richer than mandela but mandela went down in history in a much better way because of his behaviour

but nah seriously i don't think artists should be obligated to do it all. they should do what moves them. if their strength is rumba give us the best rumbas you got. if your strength is mixing it up and doing both seben and rumba that's great. generiques only? cool. afro beat is your liking? wonderful. you love to rap? awesome. all i ask is that it sounds good! i think that is what was so great about the congolese music of the 70s. they weren't afraid to take influences from all types of music and mix it up. while some acts kept to a more 'traditional format' others broke the mold and it brought a good diversity to the sound of the music. i think from that point on congolese music has taken on so many different formats and even though we seperate it between 'rumba' and 'seben' it's a lot more complicated than that in my opinion.
