Alidor, Charisme (nostalgic), and Pavillion 8 are nice tunes

I listened on Deezer and despite being a staunch Koffi fan, the songs on this album are way way weak( my diplomatic way of saying they are garbage). I am not listening again am not buying. When 13 eme Apotre was almost out, people said we should not expect anything from the album, I, being in denial defended Mopao and even said Manda's upcoming album would not be anywhere near Apotre. When it came out I was disappointed and duly apologised. While waiting for Nyataquance against all common sense, i had this slimmer of hope that i would get at least one melodious rhumba and one fire generique. Instead I got songs I cannot classify. They are not rhumba, they are not world music and the three that pass for generique are a disgrace to the ears. I never imagined i would be this critical of the idol who made me love Congolese music but i dont think Koffi is ever going to produce any music i can enjoy. And why keep all these talented musicians and just have them sing a few lame choruses to his mumblings? We all know how sweet a full 30 second to 1 minute vocal by Lindalala or Mayase would be but are they gonna get a chance before they are history??!?

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there longbluesquid. For some reason the songs on this album seem forgettable

Agreed, you guys got to give the album a little time and not immediately compare it to Loi, V12, etc. Charisme is a ode to the past, Alidor, Papa Photo, and Pavilion 8 have deep meaning as they’re personal experience songs penned by Koffi

On a slightly related note, Jay-z was getting criticisms of his new album, 4:44 like 1 hour after it came out. Similar case there, people want immediate impact rather than letting it grow on them

Alidor is nice, the generiques however won't grow on me like how Nytaquance did. The male singers must really be frustrated.

Composition-wise, "Papa n'avait pas d'appareil" is my song. I do not understand the words but it is the standout track on this album as far as classic Koffi composition quality goes. it flows so smooth. You could finish a whole bottle of wine with this song on repeat. The second half of "Alidol" should have been the first half. It is a flipped Koffi song, composition-wise. Often he ends songs the way he starts "Alidol". It cools down, sensually speaking, as opposed to his usual sensual compositional build up schema. As far as the generiques go, the only good ones that are memorable are of course the ones that have been out.

But with all that being said, as with all new releases of music, we soon grow into it and a couple of weeks or months down the line we have complete new opinions.
