In 2001 Lebou Kabuya, Pathy Bass & Silawuka Bass decided to leave Academia after long conflicts with Sam Tshintu, who wanted to be the sole leader of the band and could not handle their difficult character. They decided to form a new band "Quartier Latin Integral" with CNN who just left Felix Wazekwa and signed then with the famous French raplabel Secteur A, who just fired Academia (being fed up with them for not respecting many things in their contract). They contacted then some musicians based in Europe (Spino, Biva Rai, Huges Soki, Eric Lokombe, etc) and recorded then the Volte Face-EP, who was well received in many African countries (Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin,etc.). The generique Volte Face was number one for many weeks in the chartlists of Africa N1, RFI, many other African diaspora radio's. Lebou Kabuya & CNN decided afer that to return in Kinshasa and recruit musicians. They recruited singers like Mirage Supersonic & Guelord who would both join Alain Mpela in Generation A and later Koffi Olomide's Quartier Latin. Lebou Kabuya & CNN decided to follow French/Congolese rapper Benji from the famous rapduo "Neg'Marrons" in his new recordlabel "Premiere Classe". They went to Dakar where they recorded their album Voodoo in Youssou Ndour's studio Xippi. But shorty after the offical release of Voodoo, CNN went back to Quartier Latin, leaving Lebou alone with the band. Lebou decided abandon his band and return to Paris where he contacted Koffi to finally rejoin Quartier Latin (Koffi contacted him several times when he was a member of Academia along with Mboshi, Modogo & Bouro in order to weaken Academia).
