I don't know about you but I feel Mbonda Players are not very credited as guitarist, drummers, bassist, synth player, and singers, a lot of times Mbonda are silenced and even though the Mbonda is vital for both Rumba and Sebene songs unlike other instrument which are more used in this or that song, but except Ali Mbonda who is a legend for all the Wenge Members, Zulu Mbonda who is very loved by Papa Cherie, Showman Lungila the Mbonda Player of Fally and Manzaku the one of Team Wata I really don't know or have seen a lot Mbonda Players in video or credited in the song why? If they are the one who have to do more work, I mean imagine how much things a Mbonda player needs to remember, unlike Piano, Guitar , Bass and so on there aren't sheets, or people doing tutorial of Mbondas and it is very hard remember all those beats

That's very strange what has lead to this situation? Especially with the Mbonda and the Ngongui who are along with Marimba the most three utilized instruments of traditional origin but they hardly get respect

Where do mbonda players learn their trade?

It would be nice to have mbonda players blow the whistle (no reference to the song) while playing sebene.

Just like any other trade, someone showed them how to further enhance their talents or/and they practiced on their own.

Unfortunate mbonda players are not esteemed, there been times where an artist performed or recorded albums without one.

I bet a lot of you guys don't know much about the most most prolific mbonda player, Mavungu. If you have a favorite song from the late 80's-90's there's a very good chance Mavungu played mbonda on that song.

I think the most respected mbonda player was Djerba Manzeku, who played in Zaiko (1982-1988)and Zaiko Familia Dei.

he was famous for hitting hard on the mbonda's and also for his trademark from 7:42 min.

After him a generation of mbonda-players came who started to become famous. With Cele Mbonda innovating the style by starting to use that whistle
