JDL of Wenge BCBG on the keyboards and Depitsho on the animations .

This is a studio version, so I think that Depitsho sounded more horrible in the chorus during the concerts. They were lucky that Manda Chante joined, which made his voice covering that.

Jus d'Ete Mulopwe had a big potential to become one of the leaders of Wenge EL Paris after Marie Paul & Zing Zong. But Depitsho took that place in, since that he not returned with them to Kinshasa in 1993.

So sad that Kongolo Mobutu blocked them, otherwise the competition against Wenge Musica 4x4 would be more interesting and maybe like BCBG vs Maison Mere (98-02) but softer. The competition was really harsh in the beginning (1991-93). I remember alot of Wenge 4x4 fans coming to Hotel Intercontinental, wanting to beat them when they came for the first time in 1992. Wanting to force them to change their name of their band  instead of using the name Wenge. Or those funny interviews of Marie Paul against 4x4. They or people who were in their staff need to upload their rare VHS's of that time on YouTube to let people remember that era. The biggest event of Wenge El Paris was that at l'Esplanade de Palais du Peuple in '97 with Marie Paul being carried on a tshipoyi. Crazy that people forgot all those things in no time.

It smees that Wenge EL Paris wasn't a real band, but more a zong-zing band. With everyone doing his own things and teaming up sometimes for concerts. Kongolo's rage against Wenge 4x4 messed everything up, using them as his toys but Marie Paul who was looking for revenge and and very hungry to get the leadership of the 4th generation did not understand that. With them split in two camps and on the end being dumped like dirty garbage.

I agree! What Wenge El Paris needed was a two or three dedicated donors. If the financial backing was there for studio time and proper promotion, they would quickly organize a legitimate band and compete with the others.

Savanet Depitsho is a good vocalist when his contributions are tailored into a song rather than singing the chorus. For example, Koffi's Victoire has Savanet doing a call and response with the chorus members which is exciting and brilliantly utilizes his unique voice. Another example is Malanda Ngombe, where a singer of a slightly different octave starts off the song before passing the baton to him where the transition feels natural.

They had many donors Tchatho Mbala for example. But te problem was that Kongolo Mobutu "Saddam Hussein" forbad them to release albums until 1996. That's why they didn't release albums 5 years long. In  1993 they  recorded an album to counter Kalayi Boeing, but Kongolo threated them to put them in prison. So they didn't release the album. Wenge 4x4 had same problem in 1992, when they wanted to release Pleins Feux.

Archos anyways you could expand more on why alain mpela and adolphe had a hard time? Always curious to know of they all felt the same about saddam hussein or if some were closer to him than others. What was the whole problem about anyways and how was it resolved ?

The problem was about Manda Chante. When Manda Chante left Wenge 4x4, he was contacted by Kongolo Mobutu 'Saddam Hussein". Because he wanted him to join Wenge EL Paris in Paris. Manda Chante accepted his offer, but their was one problem. His passport was in the hands of Wenge 4x4. He went several times to ask his passeport, but nobody wanted to give it. One saying that he had to see Mbuta Kis, other Werrason, the other. etc., etc. Which made Kongolo angry so he decided to attack them with soldiers. Alain Mpela who had to do pushups with a soldier having his foot on his back. Adolphe Dominguez being humilated and thrown in a swimming pool. But Wenge 4x4 didn't listen and Werrason went to provoke him by dissing him during a advertisement for their concert at Palais du Peuple and doing Tshisekedi's victory sign. Which was enough for Saddam. So he decided to interup their concert by bringing soldiers in the hall and throwing gas and everybody running. Then they finally gave Manda Chante's his passport back and he went to Paris. But he then discovered that the band didn't even exist. That it was just a zong-zing band. With some living in Belgium (JDT), others in Holland, Lille and Paris. So he went to join Viva La Musica. Then another conflict started between Wenge 4x4 and Saddam. So he wanted bring Wenge EL Paris back to Kinshasa t, to counter Wenge 4x4 who was dominating Kinshasa with Kalayi Boeing. But he discovered that Manda Chante joined Viva La Musica and just sung in Abeba Liporodo's album. This all made him furious and he went to threat his family in Ndjili. With his mom sending him a letter that he had to rejoin Wenge EL Paris, otherwise he would see some of his family-member in prison or some even death. What scared Manda Chante so he rejoined Wenge EL Paris and they went to Kinshasa. Where they had big crowded concerts and Marie Paul interrupting Wenge Musica's concerts by steeling their public with witchcraft. Everybody remember what happended during that concert a Nsele. Wenge 4x4 didn't knew what to do. But then something went wrong between Marie Paul and Kongolo Mobutu (till this day I don't know what happened). Which created a big problem for them, because Kongolo Mobutu helped them to travel illegal from Paris to Kinshasa and back in 1992. Fooling the immigration that they are important diplomats of father and that they had not to control them, which made guys like JDL, Delo Bass, Alain Mwepu, Djolina Mandudila, Full King and female dancer Rose (known maman pasteur Rose Kiangata) who were recruited in Kinshasa (all former Wenge 4x4 members, except JDL) travel to Paris. In 1993 Kongolo had did the same think, but having then a conflict with him and not French-papers made them being blocked in Kinshasa. Only French female dancer Beloti and Noddy Mataba were able to return to France. Kongolo Mobutu and Wenge 4x4 reconciled then with them deciding to dedicate a song to him. Called Tempete de Desert which came out in 1994 on the Anges Adorables album.

But the peace didn't last long. Because in 1995 Kongolo Mobutu was angry the way a girl of mixed race was prefering JB Mpiana above him. So Wenge Musica was forbidden to give concerts for a moment. Until that, that girl decided to chose Kongolo Mobutu with his brothers Manda Mobutu "Madova" & Nzanga Mobutu "November" reconciling him with Wenge 4x4 and them dedicating him many times in the Pentagone album. I think that t was not very smart of JB Mpiana to continue to dedicate November in his songs during LD Kabila's regime, made them think that he was a mobutist. Especially with the song Kinshasa. Wenge EL Paris & Kongolo Mobutu reconciled in 1996 with them travelling to Angola and South Africa, giving concerts there. They contacted Maika Munan and recorded the longawaited album Armageddon "aka Le Monde Envers", were Manda Chante dedicated a song to Kongolo Mobutu called Junior & one to his cousin Sylvain Gbemani called Silva and Marie Paul finally reacting to JB's Le Monde est Mechant of 1993 with Le Monde Envers. With the album being released in 1997 and giving alot concerts (Stade de 20 Mai, l'Esplanade de Palais du Place, Place du Victoire, etc.) and Marie Paul creating havoc during Wenge 4x4 concerts and attacking them in interviews  (Giving a prophesy about their split, hence why the album-title Armageddon).  With JB Mpiana being mad and replying "loba loba, sala sala rien" and other provebers.

The problems between Wenge 4x4 and Kongolo Mobutu started back in 1992. When Kongolo Mobutu wanted to take fully control over the band with a conflict starting between the producer Willy Bela and Wenge 4x4 with him blocking their album Pleins Feux, since that he wanted to produce it with his new musiclabel Yoshad Production. To punish them he went to support Wenge Aile Paris. Inviting them to Zaïre in 1992, where they performed at his wedding in Gbadolite and giving succesfull concerts in Kinshasa. With those unforgettable concerts in the Hotel Intercontinental. They made records there by having a big crowded concerts in the Intercontinental.

The original plan of Kongolo Mobutu was to reopen the case of Jean Belis Luvutula Mfumu "R.I.P." against Wenge 4x4 by using Aime Buanga and bring the whole band to Zaïre (Djudju-chet, Aime Buanga, Ricoco, JF Ifonge, Diva La Marquise, Cesar Loboko, Kennedy Mbala, etc.),but they were scared since that they didn't have French papers and Aime Buanga being angry over the way he lost the control over the band, since that Francis Kalombo became the Vice-President and him creating quarrels in the hope to become the President. Nganga Nzambe which had to be a band album with the 4 co-founders putting 2 songs (Aime Buanga, Zing Zong, Marie Paul & Ricoco) in order to counter Kin E Bouge quickly, (since that Molangi Ya Malasi was Ricoco's solo album), became Marie Paul's solo album with Zing Zong having one song, since that he supported him. And Ricoco being jealous the way Marie Paul became more popular than him after releasing Nganga Nzambe. With Wenge EL Paris ending up by going only with 10 musicians (Marie Paul, Maradona, Zing Zong, Depitsho, JDT, Ya Yuyu, Collegien, Rento Vena, Noddy Mataba and Beloti) to Zaïre, recuiting  musicians in Kinshasa who were left behind by Wenge 4x4.

Kongolo Mobutu wanted to use Aime Buanga for the case of Jean Belis Luvutula. So that they could forbid Wenge Musica 4x4 to use their bandname. In 1992 Jean Belis Luvutula was arrested, because JB & Werrason saw him as traitor, since that he was supporting Wenge Aile Paris. By recreating fanclubs in Kinshasa for them and promoting their albums (Molangi Ya Malasi & Nganga Nzambe). With them suing him and them winning the case, the jury recognizing Didier Masela as official founder and not Aime Buanga and Wenge Aile Paris being forbad to use the name Wenge Musica, since that that their offical name was "Le Veritable Wenge Musica" Aile Paris. So because of that Kongolo Mobutu wanted to use Aime Buanga, by brining him Kinshasa to re-open the case and punishing them very hard by taking their bandname away. Hence why Wenge Musica Aile Paris changed to Wenge EL Paris, when they came in Kinshasa. But Aime Buanga's camp in Paris was still using that name Wenge Musica "Aile Paris".

Kongolo "Sadam Hussien" Mobutu really was the Suge Knight of the Congolese music industry! Although his wealth and music taste is responsible for the patronage of classic albums and concerts, his violent and manipulative nature definately damages his legacy.

I heard after Mobutu's government fell to Kabila, he found refuge in Monaco before dying of AIDS. How the hell did this happen? The international community knew very well the stories of violence and sexual predation surrounding him and his cohorts. I'm surprised they allowed him to spend the rest of his days, though short, inside their borders.

Thank you for the history, I bet you NOBODY from 4X4 missed Mobutu ???????????? Adolphe and Alain Mpela will shake their heads in resentment at the sight of old footage of Kongolo hahaha

No I don't think so. They were at some point untouchable in Zaïre when they were on good terms with him. With Kongolo Mobutu giving them alot of money and let them use his cars. For example; the Mercedes which JB Mpiana drove in No Comment Schengen, was that of Kongolo Mobutu. They were over-praising him in concerts "l'homme fort", "tempete du desert", etc. and coming many times to his house doing matolo (beg for money). But yeah they had some diffcult times during Mobutu's regime. All because of girls. Adolphe who was kipnadded (always him) and Blaise Bula who was  very hard beaten by the soldiers of a general (I forgot his name) who took his ex' girlfriend Monique Kalala and him ending up in the hospital. Which made him being absent in the big concert at Hotel Intercontinantal (ex'GHK, now Pullman). With JB Mpiana & Alain Mpela singing about that 26:52 min.

Both Wenge EL Paris & Wenge 4x4 profited alot in Mobutu's regime, since that Mobutu's kids and the kids of those ministers and generals, colonel's were from the same generation and their fans. While during LD Kabila's regime only Werrason really profited, being supported by ADFL, where he was introduced by Tshala Muana who was closte to them. The rest started to profit after 2003,when the 1+4 regime started (DR Congo being led by Kabila, Bemba, Ruberwa, Yerodia Ndombasi and Zaidi Ngoma after the peace agreement of 2002), with alot people of their generation being members of Jean Pierre Bemba's MLC (who had alot of former MPR-members or the kids of the 2eme Republique). They started to profite espcially after 2006, when their friends came on power their friends came on power (becoming deputes, ministers, gouveneurs, etc.) after the elections (being on both camps PPRD of Kabila and MLC of Bemba), but that was at the moment when they started to be almost over the top. I think that, that made both JB Mpiana & Felix Wazekwa sing for Joseph Kabila and Jean Pierre Bemba at the same time during the elections of 2006. But they had bad luck, because the support started at the moment, when the combattan-phenomenon started in the most loved city in Europe by Congolese musicians based in Kinshasa.

My uncle knew the person who drove him to hospital when he died. He was living there under a fake name and was limited in his movements, as he had a contracts & bounties on his life (Kabila administration predominantly) and was getting progressively very sick.

He had a personal doctor and lots of stolen money but there was nothing he could do. I don’t even think he went to his father’s funeral, if I remember the funeral footage correctly.

Mutu mabe!!! As people would refer to him. He and the DSP (special police protection) did anything they wanted and kill people like nzinzi. Basically he was short and ugly so he had Napoleon complex. The only time he looked innocent (beginning):

Mobutu is responisble for the situation we are now. He killed our army by killing soldiers with a high function in the army from other provinces (Kasai, Katanga & Bas-Zaire) and and young soldiers who were trained in Germany, USA and Israel, prefering soldiers of his own clan. Who started to sold all our weapens to Jonas Savimbi and other countries. Hence why it was so easy for AFDL to come on power in 1997, since that the army was so weak and not being motivated to fight, since that they saw that it was like they were fighting a clan instead of Zaïre. He killed alot of people, nobody knows exactly how much, because in that era there was not internet and nobody was controlling it since that the USA was supporting him 25 years long (1965-1990). So he could do everything he wanted. He put the neighbour countries Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda & Angola in trouble. Maybe we are paying the things he and his army did in those country. I remember how angry people in Tchad were, when they came on mission and looted everything on their way and raped women. They did the same in Rwanda back in 1990 and 1994 and also in Angola, when they failed to put Holden Roberto and FLNA on power in 1975 somedays before their independence.  Mobutu prefered Tutsi's from Rwanda above Congolese students (Bisengimana, Miko Rwayitare, etc.). Which made it easy for them to know alot of things about our country, since that the most went back to Rwanda in 1994, when the FPR took the power. He killed our economy who was once the strongest of whole Africa (1 Zaïre was 2 dollar before the crisis started in 1973) and putted our country in a big crisis, from which it never recovered. Who doesn't know how the crisis became more worse in the '90s when he and his minister started to print money on their own. He refused to give quite his fonctions in 1990 and organize elections, while if he decided to give Tshisekedi the power, then our country would have took another direction. Now we are crying everyday the way LD Kabila and now Joseph Kabila are playing with our country.

El Paris's ban was to long compared to that of Wenge 4x4. Saddam had to much women. Believe that back in 1991 or 1992 Saddam decided to kipnap Rose, after a concert. Because she refused to accept his  proposals to sleep with him.

So crazy how he died quickly after the fall of his father's regime. In this video he looks healty. One of his two official wife's died 2 years before him.
