But Mobutu changed the situation in Zaire where African names had to come. So some folks like Faugus (friend of the late Nico) decided to name Jean de Dieu "Madilu". The name Madilu is actually from India as Archos has previously talked. The Indian name Madilu actually means "Moto Malamu" which is Lingala for "Good Person". Interesting information.

That's not true Faugus named him Madhi, which means big magicien in India. He was supposed to be James Madhi. But Madilu didn't like that name and added Lu of his name Bialu to Madhi. Which made the name Madilu. This name among the Bakongo means crying in the plural whereas in singular it's dilu and/or dila.

Interesting you say that. The only I said that was that Madilu said in a 2007 with Paulin Mukendi that his name "Madilu" means a good person. But you could be correct. It is a interesting debate.

Madilu  is bakongos name which means cries .. Just like makiadi which means sadness  and makiesse  meaning hapiness .  tome i beleive did not want someone to have name that meant  a total contrery of his  name..  Just  imagine a band leader named  sadnesss and one of his singer is happiness ..how bizzare would that be..
