Being that mabanga is the backbone of the genre, I'm curious what you would guys would select if you were to get mabanga from your favorite artists?

One scale of Regular to Didi Kinuani ("Le sauver de humanité"/"Grand frere de Jesus Christ") or Saddam Hussein "L'homme Fort" , what would you guys select?

Mine would probably be "toujours humble" or "très sage".

I got burned most times I tried to get mabanga in the past (greedy staff taking money for themselves), but not going to lie it felt good the one time it actually went through to the artist. I defintely see how it's crazy obsession for some... instant gratification.

 To the artists in the groups in vocals it would just be my name and to the the leader it would my name followed by na Etat Unis. Staff members who take the money for themselves should be beaten up because that's people's money.

Yes, in Congolese social societies it has made countless people celebrities overnight basically, especially those who made their fortune in shady business, which is why people have been desprepate and paying big bucks to get it. The way the artist sings about them (if they bought a full song) could also make them look like heroes.

Imagine some people put their entire paychecks to get their name shouted out just once at the end of a song. You can even see that happen in that BBC documentary, with that one fast food worker at Gar du Nord asking for more time so he can pay for his mabanga in full.

Yeah, Kinuani was getting too excessive with it and mocking it. I mean chill. The worst one are the guys being called "Le garçon mignon" (the cute guy) and other similar suspect nonsense. Money makes people do things....

Or you can draw attention like Grevi Futila Leyebo at Werra concerts showering the band members with money they'd earn in one year  of work to be the talk of the town in Angola

Serge Kassanda "FMI" is now more on the background. But still sometimes supports artists. It seems that the governement is against all Congolese bussinessmen. They only like to support forgeiners or politicians who are pro-kabila. Hence why all businessmen are wanting to enter politics. Nothing works in DR Congo. For almost everything you must go trought someone who is pro-kabila to start something big or to get protection, otherwise you will fail in your bussiness.

Mawa trop. And now the Kabila guys want to kill Gecoco Mulumba as well for being a very harsh critic of the Kabila regime. I saw some really horrific pictures recently of him in hospital  after an alegged poisoning incident by the regime.

^ Yea, they just put him on trial on his hospital bed. I mean wtf. Mobutu was bad and set the country up for the misery of today, but Hypolite Kanambe is proving to be an equivalent mutu mabe.
